The sound selections are sure to help many, but what I have previously been using at night and my favorite, a fan, is not one of the six. The closest match to that is “White noise” which sounds like a continuous “shhhhhhhh”. The most realistic are “Thunder”, which randomly booms and has a very soft background of rain, and “Ocean” which thankfully doesn’t have any seagulls squawking, just splashing waves. All the recordings are very well done without you being able to tell when the loop starts over.
Whenever you turn it on, it defaults to the last volume and sound settings that were used. All of the control buttons make a noticeable click with each press which may disturb a light sleeper. The volume level changes with each click of the button with about 12 to choose from.
Though it’s made in China, the packaging is solid and its instructions are very well written. The speaker quality is very good producing clear, crisp sounds. I’ve settled on using “White noise” at a very low volume which puts me to sleep within minutes.

Great product and great price
Great price for a compact noise maker. My son broke the cord for his noise maker i purchased from Best buy (at $81) so i went to go look for a cord with multi adapter for it.. it was cheaper to buy this noisemaker which works the exact same (minus the nightlight) as his $81 one than to buy a new cord. This product works wonderful and the sounds are soothing and lovely. Highly recommend.

Very excellent to use white noise machine. It's smaller than our other white noise machine, but is a lot louder I'm assuming due to the speaker placement. There are a few different sounds this white noise machine makes but the static is the best for drowning out other sounds. Keeps our two and three year olds asleep while we stay up and finish our daily household activities.

The sounds from this machine are quite realistic, which was my first concern. Not sure if I like the summer night or thunder best. The timer option is a great idea because who wants it going all night long once you're asleep? Small enough not only to fit on my night stand but it's great for when I travel, which is when I have most trouble falling asleep. Different mattress, different pillows, air, ambient sounds, adrenaline - whatever the reason(s) may be, this little sound machine does the trick. And the power flexibility - batteries or AC power makes its portability even better. The sounds have definitely improved over the years. Start sleeping better with one of these now!

This is the first sound machine I've bought. It does really help with ambient noise I hear in my bedroom while sleeping. A neighbors dog is almost always barking and my dog snores. This helps with both things. The first night I set it. The next thing I knew I was waking up in the morning. It has 6 sounds. I like the brook and the rain sounds the best. I like the distant thunder but my dog doesn't. The controls work great and the 3 timer settings and volume controls work great. 120 volt or battery for travel also.

I got this to provide background sound so I wouldn't wake up when all my college-aged kids are home for the summer coming/going at all hours. Since it included a wall plug or could run on AA batteries, I thought it might be nice for camping, too.
It produced very realistic sounds of the usual "shusssssh" sounds, like rain, waves, etc., in addition to a white sound. My problem with it was that it produced them a bit too loud for my taste, even at the lowest volume.
I had not used a sound machine in the past so I have nothing to compare this to other than running a fan. In my case, I prefer the fan sound.

I was pleasantly surprised at the performance of the Sound Machine. It's small and light weight, runs on batteries or use it with the included A/C plug. When I opened the box, I didn't expect much but the sounds it made were very good for a unit this small and inexpensive. I like all of the sounds, but Thunder is my favorite. I believe this machine will have a long life as it is made really well. My wife likes it, too.
