Product Details

The BigTop Multi-Flue Chimney Cover by HY-C Company is a smart, attractive choice for multi-flue chimneys. The black galvanized steel BigTop features a 24-Gauge removable galvanized steel hood with scalloped corners and roll-formed edges for extra strength and easy cleaning. The attractive black powder coat finish helps it to stand up to the elements. The 18-gauge 3/4 in. galvanized steel expanded mesh is available in 8 in., 10 in. and 14 in. heights. The 24-Gauge galvanized steel base flanges are designed to mount on a flat chimney top and measure about 1-1/4 in. on each side. The top-mount design attaches easily and securely with included tapmark masonry screws and tube of all-weather construction adhesive. Backed by HY-C's 7-Year Limited Warranty.

Q:How does it mount? (I have flush double flue)

Answer This Question

A:  The bottom of the Cover has a flange with holes that allows you to mount it with concrete screw to the concrete crown of the chimney. For further assistance call Customer Service at 1-800-325-7076.

    Q:Why are these chimney caps not recommended for oil furnace? I do not see any that are.

    A:  The stainless steel units are recommended for oil furnace exhaust. The chemicals in the flue gases from oil burning are corrosive and will react with galvanized and aluminum covers destroying them over time. The stainless steel part number is BT1749K10W. The stainless steel have a limited life time warranty. Feel free to call Customer Service for additional questions. Thank you for your question.

      Q:My chimney is only 16 1/2 inches wide but it says there needs to be 17 inches. Can I make it work despite being 1/2 short. Also, does this cap come in 14 inch height.

      A:  The screen to screen dimensions are 14 x 34 + 2 1/2" more for the mounting flanges = 16 1/2" x 36 1/2" out to out. Since the Big Top is secured to the chimney by Tapcon type screws the issue is that the screws may break out the cement crown when you install the screws because they are so close to the outside of the chimney. I recommend you go to a Band Around cover that is custom made for your chimney. This cover attaches to the chimney with a 2" band that tightens up around the outside top row of bricks.           I got this big top, I’m Jose Hernandez manager of expert fireplaces sweep, this is an excellent product, just recommend to send 8 screws instead out of 4 even though 17x17 big top cap. Thanks !

            Fit perfectly for my application and includes adhesive and "anchor screw" mounting kit to secure directly to existing concrete chimney cap. Looks great and easy to assemble and install. Make sure to get a masonry drill bit for the anchor screws (I believe mine was 3/16").
