Product Details

The BigTop Multi-Flue Chimney Cover by HY-C Company is a smart, attractive choice for multi-flue chimneys. The black galvanized steel BigTop features a 24-Gauge removable galvanized steel hood with scalloped corners and roll-formed edges for extra strength and easy cleaning. The attractive black powder coat finish helps it to stand up to the elements. The 18-gauge 3/4 in. galvanized steel expanded mesh is available in 8 in., 10 in. and 14 in. heights. The 24-Gauge galvanized steel base flanges are designed to mount on a flat chimney top and measure about 1-1/4 in. on each side. The top-mount design attaches easily and securely with included tapmark masonry screws and tube of all-weather construction adhesive. Backed by HY-C's 7-Year Limited Warranty.
  • Measures 17 in. x 41 in. from screen to screen with 8 in. mesh height
  • Requires a 20 in. x 44 in. masonry chimney top for 24-Gauge galvanized steel base flanges to mount properly

Q:What is the recommended height for the correct draw?

Answer This Question

A:  Karl, The height of the cover is determined by the height of the tallest flue tile above the crown of the chimney. If the distance from the hood to the flue is too small it will decrease the draw of the flue. If the flue tile is 5" or less use the 8". If the flue is 5" - 8" use the 10", 8" - 11" use the14" braces. Feel free to call customer service for additional help at 1-800-325-7076.

      Q:Why is use with coal fired flues not recommended?

      A:  There is a chemical reaction created when the galvanized steel is exposed to the chemicals in coal flue gases that can quickly deteriorate the cover. Stainless steel does not react to coal flue gases. If you choose to use it anyway just know that it may have to be replaced soon. Thank you!

          Product assembled easily. It has only been up a couple of weeks so I cannot refelct upon how it holds up in a wind storm or the like. We purchased it to keep spring birds from nesting in the chimney...it should work well for this. Looks better than screening with brick.

          I was really surprised how heavy this was when it was delivered. Packed in very heavy cardboard sealed with large staples. Very clear instruction and the appropriate screws for the cement top of the chimney. It is very well constructed. It was easy for my handyman to install. He was very impressed and thought it was a good value for the money. I got this size because this chimney has two flues, one for a fireplace in the kitchen and the other flue for an outdoor fireplace. These were built back-to-back thus single chimney accommodates both flues. The other reason for this was it is squirrel proof. I one fall into the kitchen fireplace recently which was exciting. Too bad he didn't fall down the other flue to the outdoor fireplace. He was not hurt, and I let him out the kitchen window.
