Q:Will it handle 6” maple or is that too hard of wood?
    by|May 16, 2024

    Answer This Question

A:  Yes it will. Fed several 6" maple limbs in over the weekend, chewed them up like it was nothing. Also did a few 5" oaks and handles those too without issue. It's a beast of a machine!

A:  My 4" chipper has trouble with 1¾" maple 🍁 ... 4" cottonwood chips fine. Maple is hard to chip. To chip 6" I'm shopping for a 10" chipper. They're expensive.

Q:Will it chip brush, vines, and branches with the leaves on it? All the videos I’ve seen are just the wood.

        Answer This Question

A:  If you can get them to feed it'll chew it up. I find it works best to put anything smaller in the chute first then push it down with larger wood branches you plan to chip - eventually it eats it all up and spits it out. Incredible machine!

Q:Is the starting battery included? I don't see it on the parts list, but it is shown being setup in the assembly instructions. If it's not included what are the battery voltage and cold cranking AMP requirements?

          Answer This Question

A:  Yes it is included. When I received mine, it was already mounted in a holder and just needed to be bolted to the frame under the feed chute.

A:  According to the website video battery is included.

Heavy Duty Commercial Grade Home Owner Price
I purchased this machine a few weeks ago. I expected the 45 degree angle on the feed chute to be annoying, but it turned out to be fine, & a reasonable extra safety feature. Having done over a decade of urban forestry work, I'm used to commercial grade Bandits and Vermeer chippers. Yet, I don't have 20k laying around, so I decided to give this a shot. The motor, drum, and hardware have held up well so far against both hard and soft wood trees.. I don't generally chip anything over 5-6" in diameter, but the larger intake and motor means higher overall volume and speed at which the machine can process material without bogging down. I have to be careful when pulling it around our hilly WI farm with the ATV, or on the road with my f150, but as long as I go slow and pay attention the wheels and carriage handle well. If you add reversible feed rollers and a slightly wider wheel base to your future BBC92 ; ) , I'd gladly upgrade. For now this tough machine will do the job just fine. Also, if switching production sources in the future to a more pro-America ally such as Tawain were feasable that would be awesome too. I can't complain about today's price and overall design though. Great Product!

Eat’s wood like jelly, if the stump grinder is as good as this chipper… I’ll be first in line to purchase it. Thanks!

So far This thing has meet all our expectations and more. Well build heavy machine on this price range and 7 inch feed. This thing is a beast! I hope it will help us keep our 60+ Acres cleaned up and hopefully last many years.

Auto Feed a log and it continues until it's gone
The most difficult part assembling was getting engine and frame out of my pickup bed since I don't have pallet forks. Recommend using a low trailer to transport so you can drag it down the ramp in the crate Crate had minor damage, no damage to chipper. Hole let a few bolts and nuts escape. Customer Service was easy to work with to get replacements. We have used it to chip up to about 4" to 5" logs about 4-8ft long and this thing chews them up without any additional feeding. The head does well at directing where the chips go and they fly about 6-9ft depending on the wind.

                    Big Bear BBC72
Just used the BBC72, it was awesome. The wood chips were perfectly sized for immediate use for spreading in my garden. The motor has lots of power. I was missing 1 bolt in the discharge chute and another bolt was damaged. I called Big Bear parts department but still waiting for a returned call. Luckily I was able to locate 2 replacement bolts to complete the assembly. Hopefully the Big Bear customer service answering of live calls and returning calls does improve in future.

                      BBC 72 Chipper - 4 Hours Runtime
Shipping, tracking, and delivery were first-rate. It was received 2 days earlier than originally scheduled. Assembly was straightforward. My only complaint is that images in the instructions were roughly the size of a passport photo, so the written steps were more useful overall. It took about two hours to put together. All hardware was easy to identify and match with various components. The unit seems well built, but some details need a little more final QA inspection. For example, the box for carrying a chainsaw had loose pop rivets on the hinges, which were easy to drill out and replace. And the 2 inch square stock used in the lower part of the frame seems like it should be thicker as the metal bent (slightly crushed) when tightening the axle into the frame. Also, the mounting bracket for the choke/throttle and start switch seems a little flimsy but still actuates well. Initial start-up was quick, and the unit ran well over a 4 hour first use. I'm clearing Russian Olive, Sassafras and Black Locust trees. The BBC 72 easily handles an entire 20-foot tree with a 4 inch trunk. The feed rate is exceptional. Two people could easily feed it at the rate it can run material through. One concern if you plan on towing on inclined property, please note the unit is very top heavy, and the wheelbase is relatively narrow. Despite the minor concerns I mentioned, I'm very happy with the overall quality and solid build of the unit. Highly recommended if you're looking for a way to manage a forested property.

                        Dream Machine
The 7" Tornadic is the largest most powerful gas-powered chipper I've seen on the market and it functions better than my previous 8" PTO chipper! You absolutely cannot beat the value at this price point. I chipped for 5 hours straight my first day and it cut through everything like butter. I chipped hard and soft, wet and dry, and 1/2" to 7" limbs. Icing on the cake is awesome customer service. I had general questions on a couple occasions before and after delivery and Gregg personally contacted me by email and/or phone within 2 hours both times!

Bigbear Poer Tornadic 7 in 34HP Chipper
I would definitely recommend buying this chipper. My son put it together and it started right up. We have 3 wooded acres up in Shawano that we want to clear out the dead and down trees. Only ran it so far one day and it chipped up the trees like nothing. Its not really loud and i wish we would of gotten this machine years ago

This Wood chipper is a beast
So far every diameter and length we have ran thru the machine is demolished in seconds. Machine is well built and easily put together. When we called the manufacturer customer service to ask question we immediately rcwivw a callback with great support. I love this machine 1
