where is the housing to remove the filter?

Hello there, Shari! We hope you are healthy and staying safe. Please follow these steps to replace the filters: 1. Turn the unit off and disconnect from the electrical outlet. 2. Remove the reservoir from the housing. 3. Unlock the housing from the base by turning the lock knob to the unlocked position. 4. Lift the housing straight up and place to the side. 5. Unlock the wick holder from the base by turning the lock knob to the unlocked position. 6. Remove the wicks from the wick holder. 7. Follow the weekly cleaning instructions. 8. Insert new filters into the wick holder and lock the wick holder back onto the base. 9. Replace the housing onto the base and lock it into place. 10.Fill the reservoir and place back into housing. 11.Repeat Operating Instructions. It will take about 30 minutes for the humidifier to reach maximum output.

Can I use the Holmes filter that fits the unit?

4 years and going strong
Have had this for 4 winters and it has done a good job. Yes, you have to refill the tank, it is a humidifier people! what do you expect? After a few weeks you will need to swap out the filters as they will begin to fill with debris from, you guessed it, filtering the air! Overall it has been a good, medium sized unit. And for the price, you can't really beat it.

We've had this humidifier for 4 years and run it every winter to balance out the dry air from our...
We've had this humidifier for 4 years and run it every winter to balance out the dry air from our heaters. We usually need to refill the tank daily only because we run the fan on high and keep the humidity level at 60%... obviously, the more it runs the more the tank will need refilled. I really like the fact that there are multiple options to run, including time, percentage, and fan levels. Also, the filters are easy to replace (there are 2 near the bottom of the tower in the back); these need to be replaced the more often the humidifier is run, but we replace them about twice each year. This has been a reliable humidifier and we're actually looking to buy another one for another room in the house. Would recommend it to anyone.

fan failed
Only lasted 2 years then fan stoped working. Time to invest in whole house unit instead of these small units.

A waste of money
I bought this last year and used for 1 winter season. When I pulled it from storage to use for this year, it would not switch on...after getting the runaround with Bionaire customer service, I hung up the phone and promptly threw the unit in the trash...save yourself a headache and some money, do not buy this humidifier.

Poor Product
The humidifier was ordered online and delivered UPS. The box was pretty beat up and had holes in it. The product did not work well at all. It never increased over 45% humidity in the room we used it (bedroom). So, I wouldn't recommend this product at all.

Bion-who?
Never heard of the name brand and the selection at HD was very very poor. (This was pretty much one of two to choose from I decided to give it a try. ) Although I did like the digital display on the percent of humidity level in room, it was why I eventually returned it to HD for a complete refund. The display would never read a humidity level above the 25-35% range. I even moved and tested it in smaller areas/rooms. It did not work or improve. I eventually purchased a Honeywell brand unit and have had success.

good unit
trick to using this is making sure wick doesn't go dry. If you use it to try to do a large area, use the timer at 5-6 hrs in the coldest winter. I love it !!

Worst humidifier I have ever had
The fan no longer works and I haven't even had it a year. It gives off a very little humidity and is basically a piece of junk. This was a replacement for the first one that didn't work. How many times do you replace it until one finally gets one that will work. How do I get a refund on this?

Works just fine
I have had several of these, & use two of them in a large room with a valuable grand piano and a high-output wood stove. They DO raise the humidity meaningfully. Yes, you have to clean the wicks in hot water and dish soap now & then; if you don't, the output drops. Read the instruction book. To the buyers who complain that they are filling it twice a day, but it's not working, I say: just where do you think all that water is going?

Worst Humidifer Ever
I wanted to love it this since the tower look is very sleek and I have been searching for a humidifier for months. But the fan started making clicking sounds a week after I got it. Very very noisy and the filters only lasted two weeks. The humidity never went above 25 and just blew lukewarm air into the room. Water tank is very awkward to use. Don't waste your money on this one.
