Does bird-x work on bedbugs

Asked by BG June 18, 2020

Answer

It has a frequency for fleas, ticks and crawling insects. Unclear if this includes bed begs. You may want to spray a stripped down bed with white vinegar from a spray bottle.

The sound is in the audible range for humans. It is not ultrasonic. The larger the animal, the louder the noise. For insects it is a an almost imperceptible whisper. For mice and larger it ranges from very noticeable to remarkably unpleasant at the setting for raccoons.

I haven't had a mouse since I set this up about three weeks ago, but to be fair I get only five or six mice per year. My intention was to drive them out or discourage their entry, so I had to guess where in my basement I should place it, since the instructions specify it doesn't work through walls. My fear is that they will abandon the basement...and move upstairs! The medium and loud levels are quiet annoying and wouldn't work for me unless I needed it someplace pretty far from my living quarters. It is well labelled and very easy to choose settings, as the pictures show.

This ultrasonic pest repeller works well to repel most flying insects and spiders.  I put this in my enclosed gazebo because I was having a terrible time with wasps and spiders making their home in and around the gazebo.  Once I set this up, I saw an immediate difference.  I had several wasps that would  not leave me alone and when I turned this on, both of them disappeared.  I have not noticed as many spiders or webs since either.  Not to say that it keeps them all away, but it is way better than before I got this.  Easy to use and small enough that it isn't an eye sore.  The sound is a little annoying but something I can deal with instead of the pests.

The Bird-X Transonic Pro pest control unit is designed to use sound to keep pests away. I originally chose this unit based on its name, thinking it would deter birds. This unit has no impact on birds, so I wish they hadn’t named it “Bird-X”. It has settings to deter mice, squirrels, bats, flies, spiders, ants, and other insects. The unit uses two front speakers to generate three volume levels of sound, ultra-sonic, which is barely noticeable, a medium pulsing/chirping sound, and a loud high setting that will keep at least humans away as its very loud and annoying. There is another switch to select the sound pattern I assume, with an A, B, C setting. I’ve tried it on ultrasonic setting setting B to deter flying insects. So far, it’s hard to gauge just how effective it is, but it seems like the flies are fewer but they are still buzzing in the garage, as are the mosquitoes. I haven’t noticed any spiders or crickets, which indicates the unit may be having some impact, although neither was that big of a problem. It’s a relatively inexpensive unit, uses a tiny bit of energy, and it is compact at 6x3x3 inches. Indoor use, its rated to cover up to 3500 sq. ft. If you have pest issues and other means aren’t working, it’s worth a try, just don’t expect amazing results based on my limited testing experience.

My recommendation is based on fully understanding this product. 1) It is a pest repeller, not a bird repelller. The package clearly states that it is not for birds 2) Its sound is in the audible range for humans. In other words, it is not an ultrasonic device designed so that people will not hear it. 3) For pests larger than insects, such as mice or raccoons, the settings make a loud noise that will certainly keep animals, including humans, from wanting to be near this device. The bigger the animal the louder the noise that the device produces. I put this device on a back deck and I aimed the speaker down because i wanted to annoy away raccoons that hang out under the deck. I have no doubt that the loud noise would get live raccoons out, and it may even resurrect dead ones and get them to leave. The good news is that when using the hot tub it is easy to turn the device off and all is good for humans. So, on to get animals away and then off when humans are around.

The rainy season is upon us once again and this year we wanted to try and manage the insects and pests using less chemicals. In the pSt we have had some success with this approach and decided to get this unit to use asa front line defense in our garage. The unit can be quite noisy but that is fine if the pests are driven away. We are still playing with the different settings to try and find the best setting overall, but so far we are quite pleased with this unit.

So far, I’m satisfied with my new BIRD-X TRANSONIC PRO ALL-PEST REPELLER! The jury’s still out on how good it works, as I’ve just started using it and time will be the real determiner as to its efficiency! Set-up is a breeze, as it is pretty self-explanatory. The sound emitted is like that of a thousand crickets on steroids! There are 3 different sound levels. On quiet, the sound can be heard, but it is faint. Medium is pretty loud, about all you want to be around, and loud, is just that! It is loud enough that I had to use hearing protection! All in all, I think this is going to work for me. It will be nice to be able to go to bed at night, knowing that my house will be safe from these vermin!

I have had a bunch of flying insects in the hall bathroom. Probably because the outside temp was over 100. I put this in there, boom, dead flying insects. Now I need to clean up the mess from them, but I don't have to worry about the flying insects. I have noticed that the walls that connect with the bathroom have had many spiders fleeing the area. Will turn the switch to spiders then will try in the barn for the rats after that. If it destroys the pests, I can clean up the mess.

I have only had this plugged in for about a week. I am not able to fully determine its repellent screening for rodents. But what I can say, is we had crickets chirping the garage and after turning this on for the last few days, we no longer have that annoying chirping sound! This device comes with three settings, each for differing types of pests to control. It also comes with sound volume setting that are quiet, medium and loud. All three settings if you standing right over the box can be heard, but when you walk away it goes away. I like it. The box is very small with a long cord! We are placing it in our garage. We are hopeful that it gets rid of the crickets, grasshoppers and wasps. A bonus would be field rodents that come by and eat from a neighbor's fruit tree. Two things to know per the directions that are worth mentioning. The sound can not penetrate walls. It will not work if want it to work in multiple rooms. That would require a second device. It does however, work in wide-open spaces such as attics, garages (our use) and large gathering rooms. Additionally, it does not have an effect on birds if you are trying to prevent nests.

The BIRD-X TRANSONIC PRO is a 3 inch by 6 inches by 3 1/2-inch black box with two speakers on the front and three switches, a light and a power connection on the back. A diagram on the back indicates the switch positions for repelling various pests. We have used sound based pest repellers, principally for mice, for several years with very good results. This unit is settable to deal with a broad range of pests. We initially tried it on some insects without success, they ignored it and walked right past it unfazed. It is now repurposed to repel chipmunks that might wander into our garage.

I kept having little critters come in and out of my garage and I did almost everything in regards to getting them to stay out. Lately, I came across some more little mouses so I wanted to try this device because I hadn't tried sonic waves to get them to stay out. I set it up in the inside of the garage and so far I haven't came across anything to get in the way. I recommend this because its easy to set up and just make sure to keep kids or anyone else out of the way.
