Best waterline thread tape
You'll never see a plumber use white thread tape, and there's a good reason for that. Premium thread tape is thicker, smoother, takes fewer wraps, and doesn't get stringy or wrapped up in itself like white thread tape does. For white thread tape, you need a minimum of eight wraps and the white tape just bunches all up and sticks to itself while you're applying it. You only need a minimum of three wraps with this.

Found this product to be less useful than the traditional white teflon tape. It is much more brittle and breaks off with very little pressure applied when wrapping it onto threads. I had to put multiple segments of this tape in place to get effective coverage, instead of the continuous band that provides better sealing. I also found that because of its thicker size it proved to be less apt to grab onto the threads and itself for the starting wrap on application. I was using it on a PVC application, it's possible that using it on steel pipe would be a different result, but I can't confirm that at this time. The tape does give a heavier feel than traditional tape but that appears to be its downfall as well. As for the price, it was less expensive than a 5 pack of the traditional tape but in having to use more (the directions are to use at least 3 wraps for the connection) to accomplish the same effect, I'm not convinced it is actually a better value in the long run.
