Durango 4100 cools 1900 square feet
I purchased the Durango evaporated cooler for my 1000 square-foot manufactured home. I live in the desert in Arizona and with temperatures so far only around 100° and our low humidity. This unit is freezing me out of my home with the fan on low and outside temperatures 98 to 105° my two bedroom two bath manufactured home stays in the mid 70s. I was outside the other evening gardening when the temperature was in the 90s I came back inside and the temperature was 69°. Bonaire is the best.

We have had this since spring 2017 - Las Vegas, NV
We love our Bonaire Durango and have been using it every spring and summer (until it’s too humid or too hot) since 2017. I’m amazed at how durable the plastic is in the Las Vegas heat, we have replaced the filter media 1x. With our hard water, I keep an inline filter going (for evaporative coolers) and I clean out the water cistern every spring getting rid of any hard water deposits that can be loosened with agitation. We are on the original pump still, it pumps like a champ for our 2-story home

Ditto Grumpy's review about taking the back off before you screw the fan housing in place; that way you can see that the housing is flat against the cooler. I haven't used it yet due to unseasonable cool temps here but installation was pretty straight forward. One person could install it but two people is much easier. I figure I'll need help twice per years since it has to be taken out before freezing weather sets in. I mounted it on a 4x4 piece of treated fence post because 1) it needed to be higher than the brick windowsill and 2) the existing roman shade wouldn't clear the fan housing if mounted flush to the window. I put a hose pinch clamp on the purge line as suggested by others. The purge line is teed off the pump line so it flows continuously. Our water is pretty good here but it's also a precious commodity so I bought a "scale eliminator" filter from Home Depot, plumbed it in before the water intake, and used a hose pinch clamp to regulate the amount of water being bled off. I'll adjust the flow once hot weather sets in. If I get two years out of a set of $80 pads I'll be happy.

                  Poor improvements, no pad replacement.
I purchased the 4500E in 2022. Did cleaning as manual suggested. Waste of time. As AZ gets humid in August I noticed green algea, I cleaned again, but it then started turning black. I cleaned again and tried ordering a pad after market as the Bonaire site suggested for replacement pad. I recieved a set of pads and reordered cross referencing part number both in manual and on Bonaire's website. Still no pad on my second year. Clips are part of cover and broke. Already junk.

Loved it until we put in a new filter
Loved it for 3yrs and would have gave 5 ⭐until the new filter. The filter put out a horrible odor throughout our entire house so strong the first 2 days we couldn't be inside while running and a while after turning off. We let it sit wet, drained the pan several times, pressure washed praying it would work and day 3 it still smells! Faint now, but not happy for $100 this cannot be healthy. I wish I wouldn't have replaced the filter. Taking it back! Never again. It's worse than you can imagine

                      Works great and is quiet.
Last time I had an evaporative cooler was 20yrs ago. Was loud and lots of maintenance, the newer ones are great, almost no metal to rust and no belt or bearings to deal with.

Very poor QC with this unit
Pros: after I got it up and running, I'm satisfied with the unit, works good for my home. Cons: thee worst QC of any product I've purchased in this price range ($600), the unit itself, I had to drill out the holes ( 9 of 12) to screw in the slide out box, the screws on the fan cover were all different and one was stripped out, had to replace with a larger screw to secure cover, the Manuel is poorly written, unorganized, it starts with operation of remote, and the drawings are useless.
