Questions & Answers

My remote controls both the light and fan, will Bond control both as well?

Asked by: scu31698
Yes, you'll be able to control both the fan speeds and the light independently. Bond supports virtually any RF remote. But be warned that you may not be able to dim the lights if the remote uses the same button for on/off and dimming.

If I have wink remote control will this work or will I need to purchase a different fan remote for it work?

Basically I want to buy a fan, but I don't know if I can purchase one of the fans with a wink remote or other remote. Thanks.
Asked by: Thanksforanswering
Your Wink remote probably can't be used with Bond. It is likely using wifi to connect to a Wink hub, which Bond can't copy. But if you have a Wink hub, you can probably use other means to control your device via Wink.

how do I know if my ceiling fan is compatible?

I read in the reviews that it is not compatible with all ceiling fans. Does anyone know I might find out?
Asked by: redneckfoxgirl
I think the only way to truly find out is to try to connect the device. As long as its a remote control fan it should work.

Beware: When connecting the BOND to your WiFi network, there may be problems if the network name or password contain the information below. We are working to provide a fix for this and will provide an update when it is ready. apostrophe (') back-tick (`) 14-character passwords ending in W 64-character passwords very long passwords (for example, 63 characters) comma , The above was from BOND on December 09, 2017 11:55. So don't expect a fix. I have a long complicated password it did not work. So I tried another shorter password under 50 bytes. I wanted to use special characters but refrained from using any on their unsupported list so I used $./#:) and still no luck. I tried the complicated directions for manual setup via the browser instead of the BOND app, nope. If you buy just be prepared to find a password that will work with BOND and then reset all of your other devices to this new password. It wasn't worth it for me. Thank you Home Depot for allowing me to return it.

Unfortunately is not ready to replace my remotes. It's buggy and doesn't work when you need it to. The only time the remote doesn't work is when the batteries die. So win goes to the original remote. Set up is complicated, device editing is very limited. For example it finds my fans remotes just fine however the recommended layout is missing some key functions. Ok, so then you try to make a generic device so you can add the missing functions to it yourself right? Not so fast, generic device has some of the missing functions but is missing other functions that were available from the database device. So you can have some function or other functions but not all functions! That would be silly...yesterday the fireplace device stopped working through Alexa...after 30 minutes of chat with support, end result??? fireplace is still not working with Alexa. My original remote even though an eye sore hanging around an end table just works. I guess its asking too much to have the bond hub just work.

I can now control my ceiling fan and ceiling fan light with my Amazon Echo ecosystem. In terms of controlling other devices, the feature set is somewhat limited for now, so I am hopeful more devices will be available soon. The communication speed is good, not much of a delay. Cons: Setting it up was annoying. I'm guessing my Pixel isn't supported as a mobile device because I had to contact customer support to get it working. The auto device pairing did not work. The webUI to manually add the device did not work. When I asked customer support what I did wrong, they said "nothing" --I HAD to contact them to get it to work. Hmm, not exciting. Lastly, $99 plus tax for such a limited device at this time in its brief existence is poor value. I waited several months for it to go on sale before I purchased it. TL;DR: Works great, limited device support, clumsy setup process, poor to mediocre value relative to price.

Ended up needing to be in the same room as the fan with direct line of sight about 10 feet away. I was going to place it in the pantry 15 feet outside of our bedroom with direct line of sight to the master bedroom fan, but this failed to work every time. This means Bond can barely control 1 fan, let alone the other 2 in our guest bedrooms 35 or so feet from our master. We have a 1 story, open concept ranch that has very clear opening to all rooms, and each fan's remote works seamlessly from the central point I was hoping to place the bond. Aditonally, setup with Android devices is currently broken and only iOS setup works. Great idea, terrible execution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible product Definitely a great product. I have three different house fans currently going on the app. With my disabled wife, it is made turning on the lights and the fans through Bond via Alexa much, much easier, especially in the middle of the night. Through the beta program for the fireplace, I was also able to get the fireplace hooked up to my smart phone. Because of the placement of the fireplace, I will likely buy a second van to control it, but is well worth it. Definitely a great product for taking control of one’s house. It was also easy to get all three fans on the device, I simply kept reprogramming my Hampton Bay remote with a different RF code for each fan.

The Home Depot representatives did not even know they carried this product online. They were no help on any questions that I had about this product. Home Depot should allow their employees some time to train about their new products. This product came with the ceiling fan, and a Google mini. The reason why I am focusing on that is 1 Bond unit is good for several fans and products. I am still giving it 5 stars because the Bond product works great!! I have been using it over a month now and had to reset it once. I am a reasonable person, and am not expecting perfection. It was super easy to install, and currently I am using 1 unit for 2 ceiling fans. Integration with my Google Home hub was easy as well. I have 1 Echo, but I have not hooked it up to that because I primar

I was pretty skeptical, but this lets me control all the fans in my house with my google home. I have it located downstairs but it can control both the downstairs and upstairs fans with no issues. It was easy to install and doesn’t require a wired connection to my router. Cons/ Issues (with resolutions): - I wish it knew the difference between “off” and “on” for the lights. If I “turn off” all the smart lights in a room, but the fan light was already off, then it will turn it on. - The original setup on the app showed 2 power buttons and my voice commands weren’t working to turn the fan off. I watched the app as I said commands and one of the power buttons never lit up. Once I deleted the duplicate/dormant power button in the app, the voice on/off commands worked fine. - It would also be nice if there was some in app guidance about what to say. I had to look it up and the commands needed were “set <my fan> to low, medium and high” to get speeds 1,2 and 3. I got this on one of the very rare sales. I wish there were more specials or bundles throughout the year as the price is a little steep for something that just controls fans.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the BOND I spent months reading up on this and watch youtube videos of setup and reviews. I was pretty much convinced and was just waiting for the right time. Then l saw it on sale at the Home Depot site and just could not pass. Once i got it i was blown away as to how easy it was to setup. I did not have the WIFI issue that lots of users have mentioned. Also i have the BOND on the second floor controling 5 fans which one is on the first floor. To be honest at first it had a little bit of an issue detecting the first remote but once i figured it out was smooth sailing from there. I was anle to set it up with Alexa and it works pretty good. Sometimes I do have to repeat myself but i believe that is more of an Alexa issue. Like i said love this thing and i was able to make 5 ceiling fans into smart fans for less then a $100. Cant be that.
