You will see the stump start to break down and the wood should have a crumbling appearance as the cellulose breaks down. The recommend time to wait after application is 4-6 weeks. You can use kerosene or fuel oil for ignition.
Product will mot hurt cats. It is just saltpeter and cats will mot eat it. The rain water helps the rotting process so you will need to routinely soak the stumps if you cover them with plastic Or maybe poke a few holes in the plastic in low spots
Judy, This will take the stump down right to the root. Please follow application instructions on the label.
It will probably take years for Mother Nature to finish the job. After 2 months there was no deterioration visible but that doesn't mean it wasn't working as I believe the product destroys the lignin in the wood so it burns easier. I eventually had the stump ground.
This product should not be applied to lawns.

Thank you for your question. When using StumpOut, there is no need to cover the stump with plastic after application, so please leave it be.
No water was needed on my application. I placed product directly on stump and left for thirty days, then used a pick and broke stump into small pieces and it was so easy.
