Depends on what you are drilling. If it's masonry or concrete, then yes, you will want a hammer drill.

This drill bit is capable of doing what you are trying to accomplish. However, you may have difficulty drilling holes in clay planter pots because they are fire kilned, very brittle and tend to crack when drilled. I have tried this myself before with mixed results. Tip: keep the drill bit and area wet while drilling.
It will but it wont get very far if you hit a rock
Not very well
Yes, you need to make sure you use water to keep it cool. Do not let any masonry bit overheat.
Hi! The HCBG21T cannot be used for your application because this drill bit is meant for Concrete, Stone and Masonry Drilling. We recommend using the NKST10 Daredevil Auger Bit along with the heavy duty drill GBM9-16 instead. For further assistance, contact us at 1-877-BOSCH99 (1-877-267-2499) from Mon-Fri 7A-7P CST.

I've worn out two of them for a bigger job than yours; concrete blocks and railroad ties. I think you'll be okay with one, but I'd get two and return one if you don' need it.
Thank you for your question. The HCBG27T Hammer Drill Bit is used in masonry and concrete drilling. For granite we recommend using a diamond bit or diamond hole saw. For further assistance, contact us at 1-877-BOSCH99 (1-877-267-2499) from Mon-Fri 7A-7P CST.
