You may need to cut from both sides or break out the center with a screwdriver. The tool is only 1 I/4 deep.

Can anyone tell me if any hole saw works with any brand of drill? In other words if I have a Makita Drill can I use a Bosch piece with it? Do the drill bits or hole saws have to be the same brand?

Drill bits are universal, you can use any bit with any brand tool.

I need to cut through a 3/4 inch piece of mahogany in a very nice custom cabinet. Will this cut without wobbling and making a hole that is too large?
Asked by: George
To let you know the part that connects to the drill broke in half on me. It did the job and I can still use the unit but is much small and closer to the drill, but was a little shocked it sheared off. For your question. The bit is a rough cutter, you will likely have chipping on the edge of the finished hole. You could make it work and if putting a cap on it after then it may not matter. If you already bought it and eager, go very slowly when applying to the wood. Once you have ring of a hole, then go for it. I personally would look for a bit that has many more teeth for cutting. The more teeth the better the finish. Cheers

Daredevil 2-1/8 in. Wood Hole Saw with Arbor is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 286.

I googled how to do it and used a 20 volt cordless drill. Probably should have used one with a handle but stuck a bubble level on it and went very slow. I was out the limit of the bits capacity but it worked fine. I did do a pilot hole and came in from both sides to make sure no splintering. So is it good or excellent? I don;t know..I do know that it worked for a one off homeowner..it was slow but the videos said to let the drill do the work and not to press too firmly so as not to bind. A handle would have been nice as my forearm got somewhat tired and it was somewhat difficult maintaining level but the hole is made and my wife is happy.

Putting in Densshield by Georgia Pacific tile backer panels. Needed to drill one hole for the shower receptacle. Worked perfectly well. I believe its a great alternate to purchasing a more expensive unit with additional teeth. Long story short. For wood and sheetrock this unit is more than acceptable. If I was doing commercial work I would buy the more expensive hole saw. For homeowners this is more than adequate.

The only problem is with ALL hole saws- punching out the donut you just made by drilling that hole! The solution with ALL hole saws- use a screwdriver, stick it in one of the side slots, and twist the donut of wood in the direction of the twist of the arbor bit, and 'turn' it out!

I bought this to drill some circles for a project and it will make a hole, but the little flares on the end of the cutter grab pieces of the wood stock and makes the drill about jerk your arm out of the socket. Too violent for drilling and I returned it.

Cut into a 2x4 of douglas fir and it cut just okay, cut into a 2x6 of dried pressure treated wood and it barely made it through.
