Fall Front Platinum Bread Box

I used it as the shell for a DYI uvc sterilizer. The size is perfect and the glossy steel interior allows for substantial reflection. An 8 watt t5 uv lamp was mounted on the ceiling of the bread box and a 6 watt t5 on the floor. I used a cooling rack as a transparent shelf above the floor lamp. i mounted a magnetic reed switch on the door to turn off the uv lamps when the door is opened.

When I saw this bread box online I was excited. It looked like the perfect box to store my "daily" baked goods. My current bread box is the microwave. It keeps the moisture out and the bread and crackers in a safe place. I have a dog that loves to counter surf any kind of bread product. This will surely keep him away from the bread and let me use my microwave again! when the box arrived, I was a little disappointed. it was smaller on the inside than I thought it would be. If I put any full size baguettes in it, I will have to bend them or at least cut off one of the ends to make it fit completely. I LOVE the exterior and how easily it cleans. 4 Stars because the interior is small.

I obtained the matte black fall-front Brabantia bread box to replace a smaller dome-shaped Brabantia bread box with a roll-top door (of which the magnetic closure malfunctioned after only 6 months and which had started showing spots of corrosion) I owned and used for the past 6 years. This bread box is rectangular-shaped and measures about 18Wx10Hx7.5D inches, so it has good amount of storage. It could fit at least 3 loaves of wide-pan bread next to each other or two regular-size bread loaves plus 1-2 packages of rolls/bagels/buns and/or several packages of flatbread/wraps/soft tortillas. The flat top also allows for more loaves of bread to be stored, or as it shows in a picture on the box, you could put storage jars on the top of the bread box for decoration or to free up counter space. I prefer the fall-front door over the roll-top doors of the traditional Brabantia bread boxes. With the roll-top door, oftentimes the plastic bags from the bread would get caught. I hope the magnetic closure on the fall-front door of this model will last for the life of this bread box. The box this bread box arrived in has a paragraph about recycling it after 20 years, so I think that means Brabantia assumes this bread box to last 20 years. A sticker on the fall-front door indicates "fingerprint proof" and "10 year guarantee" which I think means it is guaranteed to prevent fingerprints for 10 years? The small print just indicates the coating on the breadbox prevents fingerprints, no other kind of guarantees. A flash picture I took of this breadbox already shows my fingerprints, although they're not too visible in low light. I keep the bread box stored in a kitchen cabinet so any fingerprints are not as obvious. There are two teardrop-shaped holes in the back of the bread box, which allows you to hang it on a wall, however, screws are not included. This bread box is made of corrosion-resistant, stain-resistant steel and has a non-slip bottom. I find this steel, compared to my old Brabantia bread box and a Brabantia bread box my mother owned for about 30 years, rather thin. I'm assuming this thinner steel is meant to make the bread box lighter weight, which is beneficial if you were to hang the bread box on a wall. In any case, so far I'm satisfied with increased storage of this bread box.

I like the looks of this bread box. It is large enough to hold 2 loaves of regular size breads. We have had it for a few days and the only thing that you have to get used to, if you have it setting back on the cabinet, is that the door lye's flat on the counter and you have to use the small indented ends to close it. It has a magnetic latch to keep it closed. As you can see in the photos it is very sturdy and you can put small containers on top. It has a nice finish also,

With its flat top and low profile, there’s a full 10” of space between it and our standard height kitchen cabinet. This allows us to place additional items on top, like paper plates, napkins, packs of rolls or buns, etc. Its large capacity can hold two “giant” sized regular grocery loaves or two of the deli styled wide, short ones. To open there is an easy to grab wide, recessed handle on the front. But to close, since it then is now flush with the countertop, you must take hold of the indented notches on the sides at the top of the door. A magnetic latch snaps it closed securely.

A generously sized breadbox with warm understated tones to complement most kitchen decors. All steel construction with a totally unblemished finish that quietly states class. Even the door action, which opens effortlessly and closes softly but securely with a magnetic latch will be appreciated. The flat top becomes a useful shelf for whatever items you would find helpful to have close at hand. I don't think you'd be disappointed in any way with this addition to your kitchen.

We don't often eat bread but when we do, my husband makes it fresh for us using our bread machine. The loaf in that machine is two pounds and is the typical look of a bread machine loaf. This bread box fits it perfectly. In fact, we could easily fit two loafs in it. But that would be way too much bread for us to use. I like having it put away instead of sitting out on the counter. Putting it is a refrigerator dries it out, so the bread box is a good solution. When we are not using it for bread, we are able to fit several plastic containers in it that hold our k-cup coffee. It gives a much sleeker look to our counter when those boxes are out of sight. Perfect solution for when company comes to call.

This breadbox is a great choice and I'm very glad I made it. It's large enough to hold our bread, rolls, and snack cakes. It has completely decluttered the kitchen with the items that used to sit on the counter or stuffed into a drawer. My only regret is that I didn't purchase one sooner!
