Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, the wires included with the fan are not long enough for a 36-inch downrod. However, you do not need a special extension wire. Simply cut the existing wires and extend them using standard household electrical wire to reach the required length. Does this fan have a memory feature for the light so it can stay on the same brightness instead of changing every time it is turned off and on?
