Can this be used as a direct replacement for the Model # 750?

Asked by Justin September 17, 2020
1
Answer

The 750 is three function unit (exhaust fan, light, and night light). The 9093WH is a four-function unit - it includes a heater. There is an additional function that would require additional wiring, and the housing sizes are different. If the project requires a 3-function unit, You may want to review the 8663RP. The old unit would have to e completely removed, but the housing dimensions are the same.

What bulbs do I need to get? Says I need 2 bulbs, both at different watts. Does HD have them?

Asked by DTL May 13, 2020

Answer

The 9093WH uses a regular incandescent 100 Watt bulb. The 7W is for the night light. Please note that we advise the type of bulb. Home Depot decide what products to put on the shelf. You will have to check your local home Depot store.

This was a replacement fixture for a 30+ year old Nutone unit. Just had to enlarge the original ceiling hole a bit but it fit pretty easily up there. It was harder to get the old one out! Decided not to hook up the nightlight since that would require some rewiring (the original did not have that option). I do wish it was just a bit quieter, but compared to the old unit, it is quieter and doesn't have the buzzing noise the old one made. The heater is nice, but a heat lamp would be even better. When you are standing under it right after a shower, a breeze of even warm air is still chilling.

This was a perfect replacement for the existing 40 yr old unit. The only problem we had was that one of the switches came broken. As this was going to be a bit of a custom install I just replaced them both so that they would fit the switchplate.

We had two older NuTone units this model, and the heater unit went bad and fan was failing too. I ordered a replacement shipped to the house and this morning started what I thought might be a difficult installation, or one that would make me give up and hire somebody. But 20 minutes later the new unit is installed and working great. I had read a review from someone here (thanks whoever you are) about using the old housing and just swinging the new fan/heater/light unit into position. Worked like a charm. The modular plug design of the electrical connection makes it easy and safe to reconnect the new unit. The fact that the new unit came installed in its new housing in the box gave me practice loosening two screws and then tilting and sliding the unit to unhook the bracket holding the heater exhaust side to the new housing (which we are not using). That done, it was a simple matter of doing the same thing to remove and lower the dead unit from its housing in the ceiling of the bathroom (after unplugging the electrical connector), then reverse the process, hook the exhaust side to the housing, tighten the two screws on the opposite side, reconnect the electrical plug, replace the cover, turn the circuit breaker back on and start the unit. Fan and heater run quietly again and all is well. It took me nearly as long to type this installation review as it did to install the replacement unit! I can't comment yet on durability of the unit (the old ones have been here since long before we bought this house 9 years ago), but just wanted anyone here on the fence about going the replacement-guts route to know it can be done by just about anyone. I am not all that handy, for what it's worth. Impressive design.

I installed this fan about a month ago and it is working just fine and we are enjoying the heater very much. It is noisy but it makes no claim otherwise. The two complaints are on the installation. For 'installating in existing construction' (quoting from page 3 of the manual) t wasn't entirely clear where to attach the unit to the header. I finally figured out what to do or at least what works. Please ignore the ceiling finish in the photo, that's another project. The real annoyance was the wiring instructions. Everything fits fine and works fine but Figure 2 seems to be backwards from the way the cover plate is pre-labeled (see attached pictures). Definitely check before wiring everything up and installing. It wasn't until I put the cover plate on that I found out it was exactly reversed or at least that is how it struck me.

The NuTone 70 CFM exhaust fan fit perfectly in the preexisting hole of the last fan. The exhaust fan is quiet and moves the air well. The light is the right intensity and the heater warms up the bathroom quickly which will be really appreciated this coming winter.
