Can the Model#A110L NuTone Flex Series bathroom exhaust fan use an LED bulb safely and properly?
Thank you for your question regarding the A110L ventilation fan and light unit. This model can use a 100-watt maximum incandescent A19 type bulb or energy-efficient LED with a maximum overall length of 4.4" or less. There will be no safety issues when using an LED.
Could this be a good replacement for the QTREN080FLT in that the existing housing is the same? I want avoid having to make a bigger hole in my ceiling/tiles
Hi Andres, Thank you for your question on the A110L model. This model uses a housing size of 9-1/4" x 10" and has a 4" round duct size. The QTREN080FLT used a housing size of 10-1/2" x 11-3/8" with a 4" duct size. You may have to patch the ceiling since the A110L is smaller. We would recommend checking out the RB80L1 fan and light as a replacement. It will use the 10-1/2" x 11-3/8" housing size with a 4" duct.
On this model A110L, how is the grille attached?

Dear Lumpy, I installed this Broan about 3 years ago and it works great. It doesn't draw more than couple of apps between the exhaust fan and light bulb. You can use a 15 amp breaker for wire size 14 or 12 awg (american wire gauge) You can also use a 20 amp breaker only if the size of your wire is 12 awg. Just keep in mind, if the wire is 14 awg, you must use a 15 amp breaker. Good luck with the installation. From Sparky (a retired Local Union #3 Electrician, NYC, IBEW)
It can be on a 15amp circuit the amperage and wattage is very low for that circuit.
I purchased two of the InVent 110 CFM fan and light units some months ago, and am overall happy with them. Somewhere or other, I don't recall where but I think it was the Home Depot website, I read that Broan recommends the Lutron "Skylark Contour" (CTCL-153PDH-WH) as a good dimmer switch for this fan/light unit. I just installed that Lutron switch, and it hums quite loudly. Is there a dimmer switch that won't hum with this fan/light unit?
If it is a minor hum, it could be the switch. If the hum is noticeable, you might want to check your connections. I have installed many fans similar to this one with dimmer switches and have never noticed a hum. One caveat: make sure to wire the light and fan separately. The fan should never be on a dimmer switch. This also means potentially running another wire (or two, if a new neutral is needed) in order to separate the light from the fan.

Substitution of a Compact Florescent lamp or LED for an incandescent bulb can be done, but some critical guidelines must be followed. 1. The bulb must be listed by a certification body (UL, CSA, ETL). 2. Bulb must be marked suitable for enclosed fixtures. 3. Bulb should be the same shape of A19 (2.38" diameter x 3.8"). 4. Bulb must be equivalent lumens or less. Even by following the guidelines, the bulb may have a shorter than expected life or a reduced performance. Thank you.
