Q:The unit says it?s convertible but the other questions and answers say it?s hardwired. I need a plug in. Is it convertible or hardwired?

A:  Hi Lyndsey, Thank you for your question on model BCSQ130SS. This unit is convertible because of the multiple applications this hood is compatible with. You can duct the unit horizontally or vertically or purchase non-duct filters and install in recirculation applications. This model is designed to be hard wired but is compatible with the HCK44 hood cord kit if you need to convert for plug-in installation.

    A:  I'm thinking "convertible" means it can circulate air through the filter and back into the kitchen, or made to send the filtered air through a chute outside. That's what I have. I removed the old vent and wired it to the same wiring harness the old one had.

      A:  No, it only contains the damper for the rectangular duct. You would need to purchase a round damper separately.

        A:  I installed into rectangle duct, and it did have the damper for that, which I did use, but I do not think it had a damper for round. However I don't trust my own memory, that was way over a year ago and I don't remember what I had for breakfast today.

          A:  Hi Eddie, Thank you for your question on the BCSQ130SS range hood. This 7" round damper is not included with the purchase of this hood and should be purchased separately if using 7" round ducting. Either of these two 7" round dampers are compatible; 97010792 or 97018803.

                      The only complaint....the filters are billed as dishwasher safe. The very first trip through the dishwasher left both filters with very dark, very unsightly staining.

                      Hi DCharette, Thank you for your review of model BCSQ130SS. The grease filters for our Range Hoods should be cleaned frequently, using a warm dishwashing detergent solution. While the Grease filters are dishwasher safe, you would need to clean the all-metal filters in the dishwasher using a non-phosphate detergent. Discoloration of the filters may occur if using phosphate detergents, or as a result of local water conditions. This will not affect filter performance. This discoloration is not covered by the warranty. To minimize or prevent discoloration, we recommend hand washing the filters using a mild detergent.

                        Poor Quality Control
                        Product light bulb for one spot had a defective bracket. It wasn't cut right to hold it, wasn't attached so I couldn't install the light bulb and have included pictures of the left and right side to show the difference. Have to return it and drive all the way back to store along with not being able to replace it today. I'm glad I didn't install this first without inspecting it or I would have been extremely disappointed.

                          I like this range hood. Fits exactly into space of previous range hood and vents well. Fan speeds adjustable to 3 different levels. It matches nicely with other stainless steel appliances. I thought it had two settings for the light but has only one and it is very bright. I try not to use it but others may like it. My husband does. You need two people to install and someone who’s knowledgeable about electricity. Don’t try to install alone.

                          We are very pleased with the Broan Glacier range hood. During our kitchen remodel it was easy to install ductlessly. The fan is powerful and quiet. The hood lights are bright and provide excellent visibility while cooking. The fan/light switches are easy to access on the front of the hood. Best of all, the stainless is a nice grade for the price and is easy to keep clean on a daily basis (unlike our horrible stainless fridge). Will purchase a second Broan for our lake house remodel.

                          Product was defective, but Customer service was great and the product was functional, except the symbols that indicated the functions of the buttons were reversed. When I pushed the fan button, the light came on. When I pushed the light button, the fan came on. "I" was the highest speed, and "III" was the lowest. We (I and technical customer service) first thought the button assembly was put in backwards. The technician thought my plan of disassembling it and turning the button assembly 180 degrees would work. He sent me instructions on how to access the assembly. But....after uninstalling, disassembling, I discovered that the button assembly could not be reinstalled that way. It looked like it had been assembled correctly. It was only after looking at the operating instructions that I noted that the symbols were reversed. I informed the Customer Service People and returned the unit to my local Home Depot (I bought it online). I ordered a new unit online, still Broan Glacier, but an upgraded model (BCDJ130SS) that had 400 cfm, dual fans, quieter operation, and more advanced controls.
