Easy, room side installation, with No Attic Access Required. Ceiling mounted ventilation fan features foldable mounting ears and EZDuct connector for easy installation. New duct damper technology provides a tighter seal, resulting in reduced warm and cold air backdrafts. This energy efficient fan operates at 110 CFM and a quiet 1.0 sone.

Interior red light comes on periodically. Is it a warning light?

Can you use a reducing coupler to reduce from the 4" down to 3" duct?

Asked by Mikey January 9, 2021
1
Answer

Model AERN110SD Exhaust Fan is rated at 110 CFM and 1.0 sones if installed with a 4" duct. We do not recommend using a 3" duct as it will lower the CFM and raise the sone level. It may also reduce the longevity of the motor as it will have to work harder to push air out of a smaller vent hole than specified for the unit's intended performance.

Why does the description say it is wall mountable but installation guide says ceiling only?

Asked by Kris February 2, 2020

Answer

The AERN110SD is a ceiling mount only product. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will work with Home Depot to get this corrected.

Yes, when wired properly its a simple flick of the switch off then quickly back on. The fan turns on for the amount of time programmed then turns off automatically and goes right back into humidity mode.

how does the humidity sensor work?Is it on a speacial switch or in unit and how do you control setting times?

Asked by joe June 15, 2019

Answer

The humidity sensor is built in to the unit. You can control the humidity levels with the built in control knob. Please view the installation instructions for pictures of the control. If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact our Technical Support Department at 888-336-6151.

Great way to automatically control humidity levels in your bathroom, laundry room, pool area Model # AERN110SD Internet #304647851 Store SKU #1003130638 NuTone InVent 110 CFM Ceiling Bathroom Exhaust Fan with Humidity Sensing Fan, ENERGY STAR This exhaust fan has a unique humidity sensor. I have other fans with humidity sensors but they don't offer the control that this model does. You have the ability to manually set at what level of humidity (50% to 80% RH) the fan will come on and you can manually choose from 5-60 minutes run time after the humidity drops below your preset level. The fan is whisper quite, I took my phone and recorded the sound as I turned it on. Even with it right next to the fan, it was quite. The install was a little tricky, this model is designed so that you can do the install from inside the room without going into the attic. (That is if you already have power and ducting in place.) I had to disassemble the exhaust fan in order to install the vent pipe. Once that was installed I reinstalled the fan and plugged up the control block and power cord. Plus was that the fan just snaps into place. Part of the packing box that comes with the fan is a template for cutting a hole in the ceiling. Make sure at least one side of the fan is mounted to a rafter. You may have to do some framing it the fan isn't stable enough. Electrical was like all other fans I have installed, not to bad. MFG COMMENTS: Foldable mounting ears and EZDuct connector for easy installation. New duct damper technology provides a tighter seal, resulting in reduced warm and cold air backdrafts Operates at 110 CFM Has 1.0 sone rating Motor engineered for continuous operation Manage moisture in rooms up to 100 sq. ft. EZDuct connector can be installed from the room side, no attic access required ENERGY STAR certified for energy efficiency UL listed for use over tub or shower when connected to a GFCI-protected branch circuit (ceiling mount only) Low RPM for quiet performance When closed, the new TrueSeal damper technology forms a tighter seal, reducing backdrafts

Nutone is the leader in home ventilation, and this product is a fine example why. It is well designed, easy to install, and most important, it is quiet! Rated at only 1 sone, it is almost silent, while moving over twice the volume of air as our old fan. It has a humidity sensor, and built in timer for extra convenience. Please not, this fan is designed to be mounted in a flat ceiling only! The humidity sensor will not work in a wall mounted situation! Also, it is 6" deep. Very nice fan!

The advertisement of being "so quiet you might not even notice it" is a bit of a stretch. To get this fan to run as quiet as they advertise you'd pretty much have to run a straight, smooth-walled piece of ducting from the fan to the vent outside, with no bends in the duct and the vent can't have any baffles, screen, etc in it. Even the SLIGHTEST bit of resistance in airflow will give you backpressure and increase the loudness. Outside of that, it was pretty straightforward to install. No need for attic access as long as your existing ductwork is 4". This fan will NOT do well with using a reducer to connect a 3" line. 110 CFM is way too much air for a 3" duct. It will be LOUD (and cause unnecessary wear on the motor) Overall it's quiet ENOUGH that I didn't feel like taking it out to return it to search for a different (quieter) brand, but if you're main draw to this model is it being "super quiet" you may want to keep looking.

Great fan, very quiet. Clears out my 14x14 bathroom quickly. I love the manual ON overide feature(turn switch on and off quickly) and the user adjustable timer. I mostly use the humidity sensor to control the fan, I turned it down to 50% since I live in the dry southwest. Highly recommend.

I purchased 2 Broan bathroom exhaust fans to replace the old, builder grade fans in both bathrooms. Installation was pretty simple. I am able to access my attic which made this installation a little easier. These fans were larger than the original ones so I needed to enlarge the opening in the drywall ceiling. Not a big deal. I should have done this years ago! These fans work great and move the humid air out quickly. I really appreciate the sensor and timer. The fans turn on when the humidity increases and they stay on until is is reduced plus whatever time is programmed (about 10 additional minutes in my bathrooms).

Technically, this fan may be installed without having to enter the attic (so long as the existing fan was properly installed). This is a huge plus. I enjoy this model most because it turns on very shortly after the water is turned on for a shower. It also turns off once the humidity level is back to normal. I no longer have to rely upon others to remember to do so. The instructions could have been written a bit clearer. An instructional video would have been even better!

Just really not that powerful
I installed this model bathroom exhaust fan and from the start not pleased. I have to hit my bathroom switch 2-3 times to get the fan to turn on, doesn't move air that great still foggy mirrors and air I have a relatively small bathroom. Would not recommend especially for the price its moves more air than my 20year old bathroom exhaust fan but not by much at all.. disappointed

Thank you for taking the time to review your AERN110SD 110 CFM Humidity Sensing bath fan. We are sorry to hear you are having trouble with your unit. When properly installed, this fan should handle a bathroom up to 100 square feet with an eight foot ceiling. Please reach out to our technical team at 1-888-336-6151 so we can assist you. Thank you.

The fan works as expected, I have only two complaints. First, the template for cutting the ceiling hole was almost a half inch too big for the fan. In practice the flange of the fan just about reached the edge of the sheetrock, but if I'd cut the hole a bit too big it wouldn't have. Second, in these days when everyone is concerned about airtightness for energy efficiency, where is the gasket that should go between the fan flange and the sheetrock? Or where is the screw tab that would clamp the fan flange against the sheetrock to minimize air leakage? I feel there are some pretty obvious ways to improve this product.

I actually used just the guts of this unit to replace/upgrade the builder quality fan that was installed originally. Very easy to do and works great. The humidity sensor function is great for when the kids don’t turn on the fan when showering.
