I just installed this fan, I agree with another review that the fan is louder than expected but my bigger issue is that the grille does very little to hide the fan motor. When you look up you see right through to the internal workings of the fan.

Easy setup and install. Fan noise is not "silent" but certainly much quieter than what I consider typical of a bathroom fan. If the water is running I can't hear the fan. Bluetooth is very easy to connect too and the sound is acceptable for what it is, a bathroom/shower speaker- its NOT a home entertainment system with surround sound and a remote subwoofer! (Dont expect it to be of the same sound quality) The only thing that was a pain was the damper flap in the plastic vent reducer like to fall out if you are too rough and distort the plastic at all. Goes back in easy enough, and it would work fine even without it- just be mindful to double check it before you complete your final vent installation.

The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars....It doesn't have a light. I wish more exhaust fans came with a light. Installation... For some reason, the speaker is not mounted in the assembly when it is shipped. So the first steps are mounting the speaker in the fan unit. The instructions are pretty good and it only takes 10 minutes or so to install the fan into the housing. I decided to test wire the unit before installing it to make sure the sound of the fan was not too loud.....IT WAS NOT.. and to make sure connecting to the Bluetooth speaker was easy.....IT WAS and to make sure the sound from the speaker was adequate......IT WAS Installing this fan in a new construction home would have been much easier. I replaced a round unit with this rectangular one, so I needed to do just a small amount of drywall work. NO big deal. The instructions warn you about covering the fan as you sand/finish the drywall and paint. Aside from that...installation was pretty straightforward. Attach the fan unit to a joist or truss, if you don't have one available, they suggest using additional hanger brackets/rails that are not included. Hook up the electric, connect to Bluetooth speaker and away you go.

Ok, so it's not a necessity, but it sure is fun to have an exhaust fan in the guest bathroom that also plays music via the included Bluetooth technology! The fan itself is larger than the old fan that we had installed, so we had to modify the space by cutting out more drywall. We also had to find an adapter to connect the new exhaust fan to the old exhaust hose. It wasn't hard, but it is another modification that needed to be done. The music sounds great, and can get up to a very loud volume with surprisingly good sound quality. The fan is quiet when it's turned on alone as well. I wish there were a way to just turn the speaker on without running the fan, because it would be fun to have music playing during a party, but since it doesn't use much electricity, we'll probably just ran the fan and the music in that case. Fun addition to the house!

This is the neatest exhaust fan! We recently got it to use in a basement guest bathroom we were redoing. We had a contractor doing the work so I did not install it. But the electrician who did had no problem installing it, even in a drop ceiling. I was a little wary about the speaker function, it was hard to believe the quality would be very good. But it's great! It was really easy to sync my iPhone up and the sound quality is great! As odd as an exhaust fan/speaker combination may sound, it's the perfect gadget for anyone who enjoys singing in the shower.

So I will agree with some of the other reviewers - you do not need this product. It is a little frivolous. HOWEVER, with that being said, it is very cool, and it is one of those items that you 'want' just for the fact that it is so neat. I'll start with the install. My wife uses the master bathroom every day to get ready for work. She has a small Bluetooth speaker that she uses on the counter top with her phone, and listens to Pandora while she gets ready. I saw this item and thought it was very fitting for her routine. I had the regular contractor grade fan in my master bathroom. It was nothing special, but it worked fine. This fan is much quieter, moves way more air, and is about 2x the size of the regular fan. I attempted to uninstall the old fan and reinstall the new one without getting into the ceiling. As much as I fought this fight, I did not win, and ended up going into the blistering hot attic. This new fan is much larger than what was already installed, so I ended up cutting some drywall to make it fit. I also had to anchor the new fan in the attic with a couple of screws. Once I had it installed, I turned it on, and the fan itself was very quiet. Much quieter than the previous one. Connecting to my phone and playing Pandora was easy, in fact, it pretty much just did it for me. The volume of the fan is controlled with your device. These speakers sound very good for what they are, and are plenty loud. The music on the speakers easily covers the quiet fan noise. There is no way to listen to the music without the fan on, which is understandable, because the speakers require power from the fan switch to be turned on. You can however use the fan without the speakers. The fan automatically connects to my phone if the Bluetooth is on, so be mindful that you phone calls and whatnot may automatically come through the speakers if you are close enough and have the Bluetooth enabled. I really like the novelty of this product. Install was what I expected, and the quality is better than I expected. I marked 'average' on value because it's pretty pricey - but the novelty may be worth that price to some. I feel that this is a quality product, and Broan backs it with a 3 year warranty... so I just wanted to clarify that the average mark was not because I felt that the quality was sub standard by any means.

So I will admit that a Bluetooth speaker in your bathroom is a little bit frivolous. But if you can have one built into your bath fan so that you never see it and it does not get in the way, it's the way to go if you have to have it. The speaker did not come installed in the fan. It was packaged well, and secured inside the box. There are only two screws necessary to attach it. The instructions are not written / drawn very well. While it did not take much time or effort to actually install the speaker inside the fan unit, it did take some time to distall what the directions were actually trying to convey. The fan is very quiet, and operates well. The speaker connected immediately to my phone and was quite loud. Even in the shower, I was able to hear music and radio crystal clear. My only problem is when the bath fan comes on - via the wall switch - my phone will immediately connects to the speaker and I'm not always mindful of the fact that my phone is ringing in the bathroom fan. I end up having to disconnect it via my phone.

I placed this Broan Sensonic Exhaust Fan in our master bathroom. Installation was rather simple but maneuvering around in my attic was a bit of a chore. The fan housing is much larger than the one it replaced so I had to cut a bigger opening. I made a template out of cardboard but mixed up the length and width. Long story short, the opening ended up being too large. I used some foam weather seal to fill the gap and thankfully the grill is oversized so it covers my mistake. As far as the fan goes, it works great. The motor noise is rated at 1.0 sones but honestly all I hear is air movement. This fan calls for a 4 inch duct. My previous fan used a 3 inch duct. To save some time and trouble I used a reducer at the last 6 inches of the 3 inch duct. For the best performance, you should use 4 inch ducting the entire way but in my situation it would have been difficult. As far as the wireless Bluetooth speaker goes, it works very well. With my phone, I have to turn on Bluetooth then go into the settings to select the Sensonic Vent Fan. Once connected you can select whatever audio you wish to hear. The next time you use the fan you only have to turn on Bluetooth and it connects automatically. If you have connected to another Bluetooth device since last using the Sensonic Fan, then you will have to go back into settings to select the fan again. I don't know if that's just my phone (HTC-One M7) or if it's like that for every device. Finally there's sound quality. This stereo speaker gets very loud. The great thing is that even at max volume, the sound does not distort. I should mention that the fan has to be running for the speaker to function. At about half volume, the speaker totally mask the fan noise. Music sounds great from the speaker but bass heavy songs sound a bit boxy. Keep in mind, the better the audio source the better the sound from the speaker. I'm really enjoying this Broan Sensonic Fan. The price point to a tad high but it is a high quality product backed by a nice 3 year warranty and it's Energy Star Certified. I highly recommend.

I tried 2 of these vents and both were very loud and had a rattle to them. So i will be looking for another vent with bluetooth.
