No, this machine only does edge cutting/overlocking. It does offer a blind hem foot, which can be used to hem knits, but it will not give you the solid, straight stitch on the outer side of the fabric that you get with a true cover stitch. The two cover stitch machines that I see (currently) in the Home Depot inventory are the Singer 14T968DC and the Brother 2340CV. The former does both overlocking and coverstitching, whereas the latter does only coverstitching. However, switching a combo machine between overlock and coverstitch mode is cumbersome, to say the least. Having two separate machines is a better way to go, because you'll finish projects faster (spending less time threading/tensioning/troubleshooting), AND two fairly simple machines are easier to keep in good running order than one complicated machine.
