Is there a wood filler (acrylic or other type) that matches this Natural Red Oak? We have a few minor gaps/spaces that need a bit of filler material.
Asked by: Keithcsr58
There are a few brands out there that you can use, comparable IMO. I prefer acrylic because it's easier to work with. Go to the store and see what color(s) match the closest, sometimes having two different ones at hand gives you a better match. Start with "red oak." Typically the material takes a lighter color when it dries. I need to ask however, do you really need to fill those small gaps? Often, with the wood moving, the filling comes out, then it looks worst. I only use fillers for nail holes, on bigger spaces they don't look good, worse that the look of the gap -which often is part of using natural material. Plus, if the filled area is anything but small, you would/may need to varnish it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I didnt realize the “Tea Tint” had a greyish tint and originally thought I ordered the light wood color; however, to our surprise, it looks amazing in our guest room, since the walls are also grey. The pic shown is not finished, its just laid out.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not junk, but eh Just laid my family room. About 500 square feet. The good: Everything came nice. None damaged, all straight and they fit together perfectly. The bad: Really crappy finish. Super high gloss, very cheap looking, the color matches my home but the super gloss makes it feel like it doesn’t match at all. Also scratch’s VERY easy. They’ve been down a week and it looks worse than the rest of my house that was finished 6 years ago. I’m HIGHLY considering getting a brand new floor refinished.

First I have to mention there were several pieces with cracks, I put aside so I wouldn't install them....unfortunately a few got past me. I'm going on 8 years and it has held up very well. The finish, durability and overall install have done very well over the years....better than I thought it would. I have one issue besides the cracked boards out of the box. I installed this floor in early summer with high humidity and I gave the flooring several days to acclimate to the house. Every winter my house is dry from the season and the heater. This makes the boards shrink and creates an annoying space between each strip ( My wife does not notice this or care, It drives me mad!) Once spring comes it all tightens up perfectly. For you DIY people, heck maybe you experienced people too. I highly suggest installing any pre-finished wood flooring in the winter when the home is heated, dry and low humidity (of coarse give the flooring suggested time to acclimate to the homes environment) Remove the baseboard trim and cut away 1/2 inch sheetrock for the flooring expansion. Installing the floor, give 3/4 inch space away from the studs. Sounds like a lot but when the baseboard is re-installed it will cover the 1/4 inch gap as the other 1/2 inch gap is where the sheetrock was. This is a guarantee your hard work will not be in vain as you watch the floor buckle when the home is more humid...I've seen this a few times and it's a nightmare. Being a winter install and cutting away the 1/2 inch sheetrock the floor will stay tight in the winter and have lots of expansion room in the spring and summer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed in the number of damaged/warped boards per box. While the finished project looks great, the number of warped and damaged boards per box was simply unacceptable. We purchased several boxes (7) to replace laminate flooring previously installed in my home office. The flooring was purchased late last year with a spring-summer install planned. The boxes of flooring were stored inside my home in a corner of my dining room. The flooring was a close-out and not returnable so maybe this was the reason why. I did note that one other reviewer mentioned the warped boards, but we had a lot. Every single box had at least 2-3 boards that could not be installed the full length. As we got nearer the end of the install, the sixth box had almost every longer length board warped. I had Bruce flooring installed before and do not recall an issue. Based on this, the ease of installation, quality and value are rated very low for this product. I am unable to recommend this product.

Many boards have an end groove that is not cut deep enough to join tightly. Several boards have nicks and chips on finish side. Several boards are split and tongue is missing. I feel like the quality level is not meeting the price paid for this flooring!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful I rarely write reviews but this product is outstanding. We used Bruce Red Oak in our family room and it turned out lovely. Maybe 10 bad prices total in 15 boxes. We got a good mix of long, medium and short prices although I would have liked more long. All in all, highly recommend.

They are great otherwise. This is the flooring we have throughout our home and didn’t want to use another brand or type.
