Is this powerful enough for unclogging AC drain?

Asked by techie May 11, 2021

Answers

i am not sure you can find any vacuum that is strong enough to unplug your AC drain unless the plug is rather easy to move. Instead I suggest you use compress air and push from the other end. I have very successfully cleaned other drains that way. First, fill the pipe with water and then push that water with compressed air and the plug will be removed. You have to resort to a "snake" if the air doesn't cut it. Good luck with your pipe cleaning.

does it work with 3 gallon buckets

A 3 1/2 gallon bucket has the same diameter as a 5 gal bucket. I can't speak to the depth. The filter hangs down below quite a bit.

How to reduce noise?

Hello Austin, Thank you for writng us a review and we're sorry to hear about your disappointment on this particular unit. This model is rated 76 decibels with the hose attached. In addition, vacuums can get loud especially when used in an enclosed space. We highly recommend wearing ear protectors when using the vac for extended period of time or in a noisy area. If you have additional questions about this vac, please contact our Customer Service at 1-866-994-8759 from Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time and we’ll be glad to assist you. Its absolutely the easiest, and most effective shop-vac ever. The fact that it also doubles as a blower is just icing on the cake!!! We had a leaking washer and it made short-work of the water in seconds.

Plenty of Function
My vacuum has been in operation for many years. However, only a week ago did I resurrect it's use. It is weather-beaten and has been in searing sunlight and freezing cold and has even endured rain and sleet. What I did was to create a cyclonic dust collector pre-vacuum and put both the vacuum and the cyclone dust collector on the same dolly platform... now it doesn't tip over and stays clean. It is a super-functional vacuum and I'm using it more now than I have in the past decade. Without the separator unit, it was still good and has held up many years but was easy to tip over.

I needed an inexpensive wet/dry vacuum for some really dirty projects around the house. A couple months ago, I purchased the Ridgit "tool box" wet/dry vacuum (awesome product!) and didn't want to gum that up with debris and mud from our BBQ smoker, gas grill, fish pond and pool filter cleaning. Yes, perhaps I am a little weird like that. So, after contemplating my next move, these were important things I was looking for in a wet/dry vacuum: 1) Cost. At $26, it seemed basically like a no-brainer. It's almost disposable. 2) Ability to use most other 5-gallon buckets. 3) Storage space. Pop the lid off and store it just about anywhere. The 5-gallon bucket can be left outside to deal with the elements.

Great little vacuum does the job as expected only downfall is it doesn’t have a separate bag other than what’s wrapped around the filter so it’s not great for picking up dust. I have it set up to a little dust filtration system for my miter saw and bench sander and it works wonderful for that

Very easy to attach to bucket and use, excellent suction and power. My only complaints is the power cord is fairly short, I have to use an extension for almost all projects. Also, the handles that attach to the bucket are hard plastic and detaching them from the bucket is hard, I broke one handle clean off the second day I used it, although that doesn't affect the suction and seal.

A perfect, inexpensive way to keep the garage tidy and sawdust free. Impressive amount of suction, but of course should be used for light usage. I haven't used it more than 4 hours (Off and On) in a day, and I don't really plan of using it more than that.

So, there I was, planning on a relaxing evening when I look outside and see glass everywhere. A giant windstorm had flipped my glass table, leaving shards all over the place. I immediately sat on the couch. Yeah, I don't know how to fix this. I got on the Google, and low and behold, someone mentioned a shop vac. Well, hey, I have a Bucket Head! Maybe that will work. I'd only used it for water when my dishwasher decided to go belly up, but let's give it a try. I pour myself some wine into a sippy cup (let's not tempt fate with glass twice in one day!) and head out to vacuum my lawn and patio. It was supposed to rain in a few hours, so I didn't have time to work on a better solution. Eureka, this little guy was great! He and I spent some quality time together, and solved the problem. For the price, I feel that if you use it once, it pays for itself. Using it twice, then, is basically like winning the lottery. :-)
