The most poplar mantle on the block.
Used to make a wood mantle over the fire place. Recommend researching how to stain if not familiar with how to work with this type of wood. The grain is beautiful. Almost didnt want to stain it so dark but that would have messed up the contrast in our design.

Shipped fine. The wood is attractive. The board itself was bent (just a little bit) on one end, making ripping it difficult. However, I'm not deducting a point because I ripped it and chopped those in much smaller pieces anyway. I could toss the parts that weren't square.

This product was shipped from a sawyer in Utah. It arrived damaged but that was the least of the problems. 40% of the boards were unusable for my project (kitchen cabinet door frames). They were warped, bent, gouged and twisted. The lesson here is to not order this kind of thing online. Go to the store and pick out your boards. I used what I could. The rest will spend time in that famous scrap wood pile until I find a lesser use for them. Home Depot needs to monitor their vendors a bit more closely.

Spec is not accurate
I pickup this up last week. The spec says "surfaced on 4 sides", but the reality is that it's surfaced on only 3 sides. The 4th side (1 inch X 8 ft) is just a saw cut. Also, the picture shows a completely light poplar, but the reality is that a little of the wood is much darker. Pickup at the store was simple and fast.
