Can the door be used as an out door?
Asked by: Ken
We installed it as an outdoor. Painted it with a coat of varnish. I expect it to weather the weather just fine. No problems here.

Will i be able to remove 1 1/2” from the bottom of the door.

House is old and the door area is smaller than the 80”
Asked by: Tim
We did not need to cut the door, however, it is solid wood, glass would not be in the way. I would say it wouldn't be a problem cutting it. Also we used it as the door on a track, like a barn door style, and it didn't need to fiit a door frame.

Customer Reviews

24 in. x 80 in. 24 in. Clear Pine Wood 10-Lite French Interior Door Slab is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 225.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from What's with the glass etching?!? I bought this standard but very nice door for an office/ den entry. I spoke at length with the sales person and told him that the door would be highly visible in my home. My handyman installed the door easily and it looked great. That night I was looking at the door deciding whether to paint or stain when I noticed that on the corner of each of the 15 window panes, the little manufacturer's words that I thought were on the protective plastic were actually etched on the glass!!! I figured it couldn't be, so I peeled away the plastic on one of the corners and tried to scrape - no no avail! I got glass cleaner and nothing! You mean to tell me that after all of that, my french door panes have words on them? Who ever heard of that??? And even in a commercial or industrial situation, who would want to see manufacturer's etching on their door? Is there some way to get it off or do I have to bring it back and pay my handyman again????

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absoluting the best quality French door Because we have white molding and trim, I had to paint this door white, but the wood was such wonderful quality that it would have looked great with a light stain. The easiest part of installation was painting it. The door had plastic wrap on both sides of the tempered glass and was so easy to remove with a razor blade, after painting. The hardest part was the mortising for the hardware, which my husband handled like a pro. The new french door leads to the cellar and adds dimension to our long narrow dining room. We put in wine racks between the stubs in the stairwell, exposing the old brick and it is perfection! Oh, I need to add that the door was made in the USA!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quite good. Liked how the door came and the french windows have a plastic over the glass, the door can be finished first, then removed the plastic that looks like it was built right into it at the factory. No fuss, no muss with masking the windows for finishing. Mine seems well made, looks very good, nice wood grains. The only problems were, this is an old house, almost nothing is square and this replaced an odd door of less that 80". Suggest in certain cases such as mine you remove the old door place on top of new door, line of the top and sides and mark all the hinge, door know and latch areas, cut to fit. And it will be a snap to replace.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality These are precisely machined pine doors, and only needed a very light sanding to prepare for priming. For unfinished interior pine French doors, these are about as good as you could get. Slab doors by nature just aren't easy to install. If you can't spend the time or effort making absolutely sure that the jambs are plumb within 1/8th of an inch, top to bottom, you will have problems getting these to hang right. But, that won't be the fault of the doors, which are square and true. They also have a pre-bored hole in the top of the door which could accept a ball-type catch. If you want to use this hole, just make sure that you don't attach your hinges on that side. The plastic film on the panes made it easy to paint. So, for slab doors, these allowed for a relatively easy installation. My only minor complaint is that every pane of glass is marked with 'Xingfu Glass Tempered 16 CFR 1201 CII'. But, it's not obvious. I used knobs and backplates original to our 1920 house, and new hinges, ball catch and a surface bolt in oil-rubbed bronze from HD. These doors were installed in the entrance to our sunroom, replacing the original doors which had been removed by a previous owner. We're very pleased with the way they fit with the craftsman style of the house and nearly match the original 16-pane casement windows.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wood blistered after priming The doors looked great upon first inspection. When I primed them and allowed to dry, the wood blistered...literally pulled apart from the other wood as if it was a veneer. These doors are sold as solid pine doors. I had them primed by a professional painter since I was putting in our new home, he says this blistering/areas pulling away from the wood is not that unusual. He said it is the nature of some pines. He had to take a knife and remove the blistered areas....about 6 places on the two doors , patch with wood putty, sand and prime again those areas. I just think paying $138 each, that this should had not happened and cause extra work. One door turned out to be bowed and didn't close evenly with the other once hinged. I've tried to be honest and not to ugly on the review. I would recommend but want to warn you what you may have to do to get it in final form.
