About This Product

Lawn care requires the right tools to get the job done, and our 24-Tine Thatching Rake is designed perfectly to clear lawn thatch, leaves, and other debris-without grabbing and uprooting grass. The tines are strong and won't bend or snap, but are the right thickness to flex through the grass as it collects thatch or gathers leaves. The reinforced head-to-handle connection won't separate, even under heavy pressure when raking stubborn thatch, something the typical flimsy rakes on the market can't claim. Use this rake and your lawn will thank you. The tempered steel tines are constructed from 100% Made In The USA steel, which is up to 30% more durable than foreign competitors. The rake includes a handle made from high-quality fiberglass coated in a polyester veil to prevent splintering and increase strength. The handle's rubber grip provides maximum comfort to decrease hand fatigue through extended use. The Bully Tools 92312 24-Tine Thatching Rake with Fiberglass Handle comes with a limited lifetime warranty that protects against defects in material and workmanship.

A:  The circumference is about 4.25”, so the diameter is about 1.35”.  This rake is hard work, but very effective & the construction quality is fantastic!

Q:Do you use this to capture the thatch that sits atop your lawn AFTER using a dethatcher or is this rake designed to remove the thatch all by itself?

    Answer This Question

A:  I love this rake. I don't see why it wouldn't do both. It's more than sturdy enough to dethatch lawn areas and it is quite capable of cleaning up the debris afterwards. I use mine to rake and pick up leaves -lots and lots of leaves.

    by|Mar 26, 2021

A:  Yes. It is a great heavy duty rake. It digs deep and holds its shape. It is heavy duty, and heavier to use than most cheaper rakes, but the workout is good.

Terrific rake; made in the USA; heavy duty; delivered on time. One gripe...should be a piece of cardboard around the tines for protection during shipping. Others have raised packaging concerns.

              Best Rake Ever
I live in a climate zone where Fall happens, but Fescue grass can be planted in early Fall before the leaves drop and grows nicely through the Winter. I needed a rake to collect all the twigs that remain in the yard after the fallen leaves have been blown, without also shredding the new grass. In reviewing all the HD rakes online, this one stood out because it was not plastic, and because it’s tines appeared to be round rather than flat. It also seemed to have a sturdy fiberglass handle. At $50, it was a bit pricey, but looked to be a serious rake. Pictures online are often crafted to make a sale, so I wanted to see this rake in person. Unfortunately, it was not available for purchase in the store. Since HD offered free shipping to my home and HD has a good return policy, I decided to order it. Although it was delivered to my neighbor by mistake, the rake is excellent: Everything that the advertising suggested was accurate. This is truly an “industrial” type of rake. Heavy duty metal parts in a well-engineered design support the 24 tines that converge in a well-thought-out overlapping pattern to be welded into a sturdy bracket and tube for attachment to the no-nonsense fiberglass handle. The handle is 1-1/4” diameter. Tines are 1/8” diameter metal rods. Span of the tines at the ground is 22-1/2”. Distance from the center tine to the weld hub is 19”. The tines pass through oval holes in a flat shaping cross bar about 9-1/2” out from the hub, allowing them a small degree of free-floating lateral movement. By not locking them down there with welds I suspect this freedom to move prevents them from breaking over time due to repeated flexing. I fully expect this rake will be the last one I’ll ever have to buy. Very well built.
