Q:I'm looking to apply a film to my skylights for the summer time as the area gets incredibly warm. Would I benefit from this or the tinted version
by|May 8, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  The S2M is a clear film, so it is not intended for heat reduction. It does block most of UV. We have tinted heat blocking films that reduce light (and therefore glare) and heat by various amounts.

Q:Is this product easy to remove at any time, or will it stick or leave a residue on my glass window?
    by|Apr 27, 2024
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  This is an adhesive film, but if you need to remove it later, it can be peeled off more easily by applying heat to the film to loosen the adhesive. A fabric steamer can be used for this. (The removed piece is not reusable.) Remaining residue can be cleaned with a window scraper and soapy water.

Q:I am interested in a film to protect sun bleaching of my hardwood floor. I have a clear glass fiberglass door with two sidelights and they allow fading of my floor. Would this be the best film to protect my floor?
        by|Nov 29, 2023
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  The S2M blocks 99% of UV, which can help reduce fading of furnishings from the UV. Note that the S2M film, which is clear, is not intended for reduction of heat or glare. The S2M can be used if you would like to block UV without adding a tint.

          Only 68% UV Protection
The description reads 99% UV protection, but using a UV tester, results show only 68% UV protection. You can get up to 92% by applying two layers, but the product still does not meet the amount of protection promised. This was a waste of $50 for me, unfortunately. I am extremely disappointed.

It really works! I installed this product about a year ago. We have a great view, so we went with clear instead of a darker tint film. Hard to know if it really did work, blocking UV rays, reducing heat, etc. Just recently our AC wasnt working right. The inside temp would get up over 80 degrees, even though the thermostat was set at 73. While we were waiting to get it fixed, we decided to put sheets over the windows to see if that would help. We have a wall of 10 floor to ceiling windows, and we get direct sunlight during the morning. The sheets had no effect on the heat. It was just as hot with the sheets blocking the sunlight as without the sheets. For me, this was evidence that the film was actually doing its job.

Works as expected but make sure everything is wet
Easier to get bubbles out when both glass and film are fully wet. Much easier than I remember from last time I applied window film. Clear and does block UV as tested with a UV lamp.

this was fairly easy to install by myself as long as the cuts were not more than 2 feet long. any longer and you need 2 people. use a good amount of soapy water, it's not hard to move the film around to get it in place. and the squeegee tool for removing bubbles is great. it has some material that helps it slide over the film. still, it's best to spray a bit of soapy water on the exposed film when using the squeegee. i recommend checking for bubbles again after a few hours just to make sure you didn't miss any. the learning curve was really steep. the first window took a long time. the last window took no time at all. if you know you will not need the whole roll, i suggest practicing first with a small piece that can be sacrificed. the main annoyance was trying to remove the thin plastic layer/ cover on the adhesive side of the film. overall, i'm very happy that there is zero darkening and is perfectly clear. this product will not keep out the hear from the sun, only the damaging UV.

Perfect for what I need, tools included, easy to install, the only hard part was to separate the backing film. Had it cut to the size I wanted then sprayed plenty of soap and water mixed during installation so it can be moved around, then used the tool to remove all bubbles. It blocks the heat from the outside while I still can see my back yard nice and clear (not dark tint). Need to get one more room done, will get it again.
