About This Product

CAMO BLOCK is a lightweight, heavy-duty alternative to concrete deck blocks. Gone are the days of taking multiple trips to the store-and breaking your back-to build a freestanding deck. Weighing only 2.16 lbs. but load-rated to support over 1800 lbs., CAMO BLOCK is an easy-to-carry deck floating foundation that also nests together for easy transport. Whether you're building a freestanding deck, walkway, shed, or other exterior structure, the versatile CAMO BLOCK is the right foundation for the job. BLOCK accepts 4 x 4 or 6x6 wood posts and 2 x 4, 2 x 6, or 2 x 8 wood joists or 2 in. metal joists. Best of all, BLOCK is precision-crafted, eliminating the need to alter BLOCK to fit your project. That means installation is as easy as placing your BLOCKS, setting your joists or posts, and building. CAMO BLOCK was designed to hold up to the harshest environments and is even cold-weather approved to resist frost heave. BLOCK is infused with UV protectant so it won't chip, crack, or corrode under sun, rain, cold, snow, and ice, and it's made from a Polyolefin material that also resists mold growth. Additionally, BLOCK was engineered with vents and drains that keep water away from the joists and posts, protecting them from sitting in pooled water, which can deteriorate the life of the support.

Questions & Answers

We would like to use this system to build a deck on our sealed rooftop. Is a material, such as a rubber membrane, needed under each CAMO block to protect the aluminum fibered seal?
ByOct 17, 2024
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

We are not aware of any additional membrane needed. We recommend that you reach out to your local code official and/or the manufacturer of your roofing system to see if it will still carry a warranty with a deck installed on top.

Can these blocks be used to support a 4x4 post pergola ~10' in height?
    ByAug 12, 2024
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

Thank you for your question! Short answer, no CAMO Block cannot be used for that application. Block would not provide the lateral support that you need. The maximum free-standing height recommended is 30 in.

Does it require or can rebar be used to secure it to the ground?
          ByApr 13, 2024
          1 Answer |
          Answer This Question

Thank you for your question Joyce! No, Camo block does not require and is not meant to be used with rebar. However, when installing make sure each block is placed on a level surface, removing any grass or loose soil. If you have any other installation questions feel free to reference our installation guide on the Block page underneath "additional resources"! Please remember to check local building codes before starting any project.

Would these be strong enough to HD a 1616 2 story house? If so how many would you recommend as my post and pier for foundation.

              1 Answer |
              Answer This Question

Thank you for your question! No, CAMO Deck Block was designed as a superior replacement for the traditional cement block. It was designed and best used for freestanding decks (decks not connected to a structure).

I see a design flaw which will trap water at the base of a 4 x 4 post. Do you recommend drilling holes in the bottom of each base to let the water out?
                ByAug 30, 2023
                1 Answer |
                Answer This Question

The product is designed with weep holes to let water drain. Depending on the surface on which it was installed that could have an impact on the draining ability. Worked as advertised and a lot easier than concrete blocks to set.

Just finished a free-standing deck using the CAMO blocks. They are a good product and the cost slightly cheaper locally than for the competing product. The only problem we had was fitting 4x4 posts into the recess that they are supposed to fit into in the base. Rarely did one go in easily and/or completely even after using a heavy hammer to try to force them.

Great product at an affordable price. Material is thick so they are very sturdy. It's also flexible for tight spaces where concrete piers are not an option. I've used them on a house I am renovating. House is on concrete pier and beam. I noticed several of these piers eroded over time to the point where they are now dust. I imagine this was due to humidity. Anyways, these plastic deck blocks will not have that kind of problem. Again, great flexible product.

So far, so good. I'm currently using all eight of these as support for a 12x20 storage shed. The blocks seem to be capable of supporting the weight. They so seem to have flexed some under the load, but there hasn't been any cracks or apparent damage of any kind. I will update at a later time after filling the shed with items. I can't say right now what that long term experience will be, but so fast so good.
