LED lights work just fine.

Without holding a tape measure up to my ceiling I would guess it’s about 4”. It will not cover a 7” hole. You could buy a medallion and install that behind the light.

The light is pretty big so it depends on the size of the room you put it in. I originally hung mine using most but not all of the chain. It was way too low, the bulbs give off a lot of light so when sitting at the dining table it felt too bright and too hot. I ended up raising it and now only use 4 links of the chain. It's much better but still may raise it to only use 2 links. Again, it depends on the size of the room, a smaller room is probably better using very little chain.

That all depends on the bulbs you put in, regular bulbs or LED.... The lumens are what will dictate the kind of light it puts off... also the brightness from watts. I have mine on a dimmer switch and use Led Bulbs. That way I can set it to the exact light I want. If you use LED bulbs make sure you use a LED dimmer switch so you do not chance starting a fire.

You can put any lights in it. I put Philips Hue Lights so I can remotely control it.

Yes mine is installed on a vaulted ceiling.
