SkyLight 6 ft. x 8 ft. Tan Garden Outdoor Storage Shed

The Canpia SkyLight did not meet my expectations. The direction were difficult because the numbers on the shed were hard to make out. Then to make matter worse, the pre drilled holes were off so the front doors will not close together.

This small building is cheaply made for the price, it was pretty easy to assemble and everything fits good without having to made to much force.

Once up, the shed looks good in the yard. Before that, its an all together different story. My husband and I put the shed up by ourselves. First thing we did was separate the pieces for ease of finding them while following the step by step instructions. The instructions were decent, but could be better. Husband built a wood foundation up on blocks before starting. Spent the day doing that and making sure it was level. Following day the shed went up. It takes TWO people (three wouldn't hurt) and over six hours to build, not counting the time to try to adjusting the doors. Pieces went together fairly well, and despite the wind and some rain showers, we got the main body up. The side bars that support the two sides had issues. One was a smidgen too long. Husband had to cut off about an 1/8" to get the support bar to fit so we could put on the end caps. The next hurdle and the biggest were the doors. The doors are a NIGHTMARE. The instructions are inadequate and the holes in the right wall support bar that the hinge connects to DID NOT LINE UP! This was a manufacturing fault and whomever inspected it (if anyone did) let it slide. Long story short, the doors did no align and my husband had to figure out a way to get them to even close. It was not the foundation, it wasn't the squareness of the walls, it was poor manufacturing. As you can tell in the photos, he finally had to add wood stints and drill new holes for the hinges to get them to even line up with the holes the hinge connected to. We are still having issues with them (despite all his hard work to get them to work) and will continue to have issues with the doors in the future. The doors are badly designed and there are no options to adjust the doors adequately for proper opening and closing. The holes in the side wall door frame do not have the ability to allow for proper adjustment up or down or even to the side. If they had done this the doors would have worked. Doors are too weak to be adequate and should have other additional support bars on the inside to give them stability and rigidity. Again, poor design and a big distraction from the overall design of the shed. PROS: Easy to assemble Light weight and easy to handle Instructions up to the doors easy to follow Skylight offers plenty of light CONS: Door assembly is bad Instructions for door are bad No ability to adjust doors accordingly Issue with side walls support bars as one was a bit too long and had to be cut to fit

We purchased it late October 2020. It took my husband and I three days and a lot of patience to assemble. Prior to assembly we laid out gravel and sand and stomped it down and leveled it out. Per YouTube they said to run thin cable up through beams or rafters of the roof and secure it to rebar to brace for windy days. It’s mid March and it still stands!

It took us 3 days 12 hours altogether to assemble as husband and wife project. Ours is on gravel and sand tampered down and leveled. YouTube showed how to run a cable through the roof frame and stake it down. As a child I have seen sheds roll in high wind so I definitely didn’t want that to happen to ours.

My 6x8 Palram skylight shed was ripped off the anchors during 25 mph winds on day 2 after assembly.

A few steps were missing, but I did figure it out.. FYI....do not put it together on a windy day...lol We now have a She Shed!!!

I was especially pleased by two things about this product that were critical to my use: 1. It could be assembled IN a space that was barely larger than the 4x6 area that the shed takes up, and (see one of the pictures) 2. It could be assembled by one person working alone (me). The shed worked on both counts. It was also nice that it holds a lot of stuff (see the other picture). Details on #1: - on the left I have 3" clearance, and on the right 5" clearance from the wall of the shed to the wall of the adjacent structures. - on the left I have 2" clearance, and on the right I have 4" clearance from the edge of shed roof to the walls of the adjacent structures. It was close, but I made it. So I'm happy. Use: I had to move stuff out of my kitchen for a remodel, and the price of the Palram shed was less than rental on a POD for the project duration. So the financial decision was easy!

My advice is take your time and study the step by step procedure, very carefully and avoid installing close to the house(about a foot), and you will have to modify the steps! In general, the shed was fun to assemble by 2 people at least and not advisable to someone with no experience in assembling things!

I already love this shed and it’s only been up for an hour. Definitely takes two people to set up and middle of November in Illinois is not the ideal time to set this up, but it was easy! Took about 3 hours, and the directions were easy to follow. Would definitely purchase another Palram Shed!
