A:  I don't know how to answer your question. They are bright enough to give nice light up to my deck but they don't light up the deck. In my opinion they, are nice accent lights and serve my purpose. I suggest you read the specifications to determine if they will meet your requirements.

A:  Hi Barb, The Imperial 4 in. x 4 in. Solar Post Caps are 15 Lumens and their colour temperature is 4500-5500 Kelvin (Brilliant White Light)

A:  They light up pretty bright but it all depends on how much direct sunlight they get during the day to charge up.  

A:  Turn the top about a quarter turn and remove. The battery goes in the underside of the top. 

A:  Bought 12 4 are already not working after 5 months!! Don't know how to change batteries. Sorry

A:  I haven't had to change them yet. It's been more than a year and the lights are going strong. To change the batteries, just rotate the unit slightly and whole top piece pulls off.

A:  No batteries, they're solar powered

A:  The batteries are super easy to change, although we've had ours for over a year and never had to change the batteries. All you have to do to access the battery is turn the black top part of the light a quarter turn and the entire black top part comes off. The battery compartment is right there, easily accessible. To out the cap back on just do the exact opposite of what you did to take it off. Super easy. We have about 30 of these lights on our deck posts and love them!

A:  To Replace The Battery 1) Twist the solar lid counterclockwise to remove from cap base. 2) Replace the battery with a new AA size 1.2 V Ni-MH rechargeable battery. Be sure to insert the battery in the proper direction. 3) Twist the lid back into place. 4) Allow the fixture to receive a full 8 hours of sunlight to allow the rechargeable batteries to reach maximum capacity.

A:  I purchased single lights from a different online retailer.

A:  I have ordered these in the package of two because that's what I needed. Interestingly, what I have received was two individual packages, so somebody out there must sell a single light. That option is not available at Home Depot, but as it turns out, you can check the classycaps.com website to purchase a single post cap. By the way, I love them and although mine have been going strong for almost a year, I'd say that even if you decide on the two-pack from HD, it never hurts to have a spare.

A:  Hello, Yes, the batteries will charge while the switch is in the off position but you will need to switch the post cap to auto for it to operate. Thank you.
