Product Overview

The California Air Tools Light and Quiet 1P1060S Portable Air Compressor is designed to be one of the quietest air compressors in the industry at only 56 dB of sound. The 0.6 HP motor operates at only 1680 RPM, creating less noise and less wear. The updated "IP" ultra quiet and oil-free motor is a single piston pump design engineered for high performance and durability. The 1.0 Gal. steel air tank is lightweight (29.5 lbs.), making it very easy to transport. This compressor has an oil-free single piston pump designed to have a life cycle before wear of 3000+ hours compared to other comparable air compressors with life cycles of 250 hours or less. The oil-free pump allows for use in a variety of different temperatures (cold) and uneven terrains. The 1P1060S produces 1.2 CFM at 90 PSI , allowing you to use staple guns, brad nail guns, finish nail guns, nail guns, airbrushes and blow guns. It's great for the garage and perfect for cleaning or inflating tires, beds, toys and sport balls. Its quiet design is ideal for anyone working inside where noise is a major issue.

Quiet and lite. I strapped it to a small dolly that I bought on sale at HF. This combo makes this a very portable setup for installing floor molding. I am 76 and not as strong as I once was. This is the perfect solution for me.

I said I would not recommend this based on my use case. I do not need a compressor yet for pneumatic tools. Most of my tools are all battery operated. However, I do have a need to use a compressor to cleanup the shop since I do wood working. Dust still gets into everything even though I have a large dust collection system. If I use this compressor to cleanup a work area, the pressure is set to the highest setting and then I start it up. When blowing the area I noticed that within 15 to 20 seconds, the compressor has to kick in because the 1 gallon tank is loosing the pressure. Well that is how it should work. The issue is that as you continue to use the air to clean the area, the compressor cannot keep up with the use of the air so what happens is that after about 45 seconds to a minute, the air pressure is so low that the unit is not usable. In other words, the compressor cannot keep up with the use of the air. I would have thought that this would not be the case. So for a unit this small, keep in mind what your use case is. I was confident I would be ok because I saw reviews that stated someone had 3 air brush artists hooked up to this compressor and it was fine. Unless the artists are making real short bursts of air for their air guns, I don't see how I could continue to use this. Someone suggested getting the 10 gallon surplus tank. Ahhh I don't know. Now cost wise I could have just bought a larger unit then. Not sure I will be keeping this thing. Granted I could lower the pressure a bit which may keep so much air from being used right up front. Also take a break every so many seconds to let the tank fill faster. I can tell you this. The compressor is quieter than a typical conversation. I love that as I have a 8 gallon Husky that is outreageously loud. I am going to still sell the barely used Husky.

This thing is quiet! Builds up air reasonably quick and feels like a quality compressor. When I replace my larger shop compressor I will probably get another California air.

Quiet!! Purchased for purpose of filling my bicycle tires and other odds/ends. I live in a condo and wanted a compressor that was quiet. This compressor fills fast, is VERY quiet, has a small footprint and a nice/sturdy handle for transporting. Paired it with a Husky polyurethane air hose (super light) and an air compressor kit. Happy with my purchase!

I have another large California Air compressor that I have been using for a couple years now and its been flawless. I bought this one because of its size. I can carry it into my apartments to do work and it's extremely quiet and light weight. I use it mainly for running a brad nailer for installing trim. Does a great job and is perfect size for this task. It doesn't take many brad nails to make it come on but when it does it only runs seconds and is up to pressure once again. It came quickly to my doorstep and was double boxed so nothing was damaged during shipment. If your looking for a small compressor for quick, quiet jobs, this is it.

I bought this compressor because I wanted something very quiet. It REALLY is quiet compared to other air compressors. It will be used for miscellaneous things around the house such as inflating tires, blowing out coils, etc. I accidentally broke off the end of the pressure regulator and California Air Tools sent a replacement at no charge.

I really like the design of this compressor, and the operation is indeed quiet enough to hold a normal conversation sitting next to it while running. My issues were with quality control. I purchased two of these in as many weeks. The first one had a faulty output regulator and the top pressure switch assembly was not snugly threaded onto the tank riser, causing a fairly rapid discharge of the tank without any use. The output regulator would drop a good 30 psi during use, compared to around 5 psi for a properly functioning regulator. After returning in-store and ordering another one, I received the second only to discover about a teaspoon of tiny steel balls rolling around in the tank. The regulator functioned with a blow gun as compared to the previous unit, but I returned it rather than risk damage to my tools. I spoke to California Air Tools and they were very nice (and seemed shocked at my run of bad luck), but I'm going to have to call it quits with this particular model. Overall: +Good Design; +Good Customer Service; +Quiet Operation; -Poor Quality Control

That blow valve at the end sure isn't quiet
It's a lot less quiet than other compressors. I think it's not as quiet as I was expecting. But it's still good. That blow valve at the end though is something else.

Love it. Small, light, quiet and inexpensive, yet powerful (120 psi capacity) and easy to operate. I was concerned initially about the lack of wheels, but it's so light they aren't needed or missed - about as heavy as a US wife's purse! Great product. Thinking about buying a second one.
