Questions & Answers
How well will this compressor run two trim guns
Asked by Easzy August 10, 2019
it will depend on the CFM requirement of the guns. The compressor delivers 2.2 CFM at 90 PSI. If the guns require less than 1 CFM it will run both
How well can this handle a framing or roofing nailer at a moderate to fast pace?
Asked by neo April 2, 2019
You would need to find out the SCFM that your nail gun needs. The Campbell Hausfeld roofing nailer requires 4.5 SCFM @ 90 PSI to shoot 25 nails/min. The SCFM on this compressor is 2.2 @ 90 PSI. (This would be a little under powered for a Campbell Nailer)
What is the true SCFM @ 90PSI? It looks like the stats for SCFM @ 40 PSI and SCFM @ 90 PSI are sw...
Asked by Vlad November 15, 2018
The ratings are: 90 PSI/CFM 2.2. and 40 PSI/3.2 CFM.
are wheels available?
Asked by cloe September 11, 2018
This compressor was designed as a portable "carry" style. There are no wheel kits designed for this unit.
Is the Model DC040500 suitable for using with an hvlp paint sprayer?
Asked by JB August 13, 2018
The CFM out put for the DC040500 compressor is 2.2CFM's @ 90 PSI and 3.2CFM's at 40 PSI. As long as your tool has the same or less air requirements, you will be able to use this compressor.
Can this unit be run a Honda 2000 eui generator? What is the startup amp surge?
Asked by boatguy September 22, 2017
we would recommend a generator that is at least 4500 watts to cover the start up
I habent yet put this compressor through its paces usage-wise; that will come soon. I doubt it will disappoint based on my evaluation this far ad the other reviews. If it does, I will post an update. Thus far, though, it certainly lives up to the positive reviews and its claims of being super quiet. Using an iPhone decibel meter app, i measured (outdoors) 77db at the unit, 73 at 6ft away (on concrete patio) from motor side, and 68 at 6ft away on tank side. Close enough for me! I was almost thinking it was a big fail but realized I had failed to install BOTH air inlet filters. I mistakenly thought the second was a spare. Once both were installed, it quieted down considerably. If saving your eardrums is important to you, this compressor will certainly satisfy!
This is probably the best little air compressor that I have ever owned. As soon as I took it out of the box, I noticed how light it actually was. All that I had to do was screw on the two exhaust onto the motor, and it was ready to go.
The first compliment that I will give this is that it looks good. I know that looks do not determine the performance of the tool, but I do like when my tools looks modern. I also noticed right away how solid that this felt in the hand. It is built very well, and really like that about 90% of this compressor is made of metal (aluminum).
There are no wheels on this compressor, but the handle is ergonomically correct, and the stacked tanks make it extremely easy to carry from place to place. You will also get two pressure gauges that come attached to the tank. They can be adjusted using the large regulator knob that is easy to use. This was probably my favorite feature on this compressor as I was able to adjust my psi fast and easy.
As for the air release valve, it is located next to the 2nd air gauge on the side of the compressor, and the moister release valve is located on the bottom of the second tank. Both work very well, and are easy to use.
My other favorite feature of the compressor is the double air hose connectors that this comes with. You can have two people working off of this at the same time, or have two different nailers hooked up so you don't have to constantly switch between them.
As for the noise level, this is the most quiet air compressor that I have ever owned. At only 68db, I had no problem having a conversation with someone as it was running. You can use this in a house or in the garage, and not worry about hearing protection. This is by far my most favorite part of this compressor, and think that Campbell Hausfeld did an amazing job keeping the noise level low.
As for maintenance, there is non. Because this is an oil-less compressor, just plug it in to any outlet in the house and you are ready to work. The last thing I will say about this is that I used this with my framing, brad and finish nail guns, and it worked perfectly. I also used this with my impact to remove tractor blades, and even did some painting with it. It is designed for nailing, air brushing and painting smaller objects, so if you are planning to paint a car, look for something bigger.
With everything said, I really love this compressor. Its extremely quiet and does what you need it to do around the house. It fills up quickly, and I could not be happier.

This Campbell Hausfeld's Quiet is the quietest compressor I have ever heard. The motor is a 1 HP 110V 15A is powerful enough and the compressor is oil maintenance free and oil free. Dual piston pump system is engineered for high performance and durability and it produces 25% more air compared to other 1.0 HP air compressor motors For the size it only weights 38 pounds. To fill up the tank form 0 to 125 PSI it took 1 minute and 48 seconds before is shut off. The compressor turned back on when the pressure reaches below 90 PSI.. The recovery time was only 30 second without any tools attached to it. It comes with two quick disconnects to you can have two items attached to the compressor.
When you get it the only thing you have to assemble is the two air filters that screws onto the pump assembly. Just need a wrench to tighten up the two air filters. For a compact unit that powerful to handle most job and being super quiet is a plus in my book. The product is made in China. The unit comes with a 1 year Limited Warranty.
Pros: All In One, Easy to Use, Light Weight, ultra quiet
The Campbell Hausfeld's twin stack air compressor is the quietest one I have ever used. The manufacturer claims that it emits only 68 dBA of noise. This offers a quieter work environment and is ideal for anyone working where noise is a major issue. The pump is maintenance and oil-free. The compressor is also much lighter than other compressors of its size; at about 36 lbs. The ergonomic grip handle allows you to easily carry it around the jobsite, garage or workshop without hassle. I like the dual air outlet ports so that two individuals can use the compressor at the same time or you can hookup two different tools to the compressor without having to disconnect one before having to reconnect another. There are two pressure gauges, one for outlet pressure and one for the tank pressure. There is a drain valve located under the tank for draining moisture from the tank. It is recommended that it be used after each daily use to reduce the risk of corrosion. The compressor has a regulator to control the amount of air pressure at the hose outlets. Turn the knob to the right (clockwise) will increase the pressure, turn it to the left (counter clockwise) will decrease the pressure. Depending on the tool being used will determine what to set the regulator at. The compressor also has an Auto On/Off Switch which shuts off the compressor when it reaches the maximum preset pressure and restarts the compressor when the pressure drops below a preset low level.
First of all, this thing is quiet. Really quiet, the quietest compressor I have ever used. The little mufflers on the inlets make a big difference; I'd like to know what else they did to make an oil-free compressor so quiet. For example, you can have a normal conversation while it is running. The quietness is especially important for spraying applications. A loud compressor suddenly cycling-on can make you jump out of your skin. No such problem with this one.
My interest is spraying, not air tools. I hooked up my biggest spray gun, set it for 40 psi, and held the trigger continuously until it was empty ( of water into the kitchen sink. ) The compressor cycled on about half-way through, and then kept up, with a steady-state tank pressure of 90 psi. In other words, it can easily outpace the largest spray gun I have, even under worst-case ( and not very realistic ) conditions. I tried the same test with the compressor switched off, and emptied the sprayer with an ending tank pressure of 60 psi. I could paint all day with this compressor and never have to wait for it.
It comes up to full pressure fast. Thank that to a full 1 hp motor and twin pistons. The high flow rate makes it good for filling car tires as well, either with an extension cord, or off the reservoir. Portability is excellent. It has 2 hose hookups, and could probably actually drive 2 small loads at once. I am very impressed with what this all little machine can do.
The power switch is connected to a valve that releases the pressure on the pump - a nice feature. My only complaint is that the tank pressure gauge is on the side where it is a little hard to see, but that's not terribly important. The outlet pressure gauge is big and on the top, and the control knob has a nice feel to it. The drain valve is easy to reach, and has a nice big handle on it. Round out the package with thick rubber feet.
I have a bigger compressor, and a smaller one, and this one is going to replace both. ( In fairness, both of them are cheaper than this one. ) I'd give it more than five stars if I could.

I'm a pro trim carpenter and I've unloaded my 70lb. Emglo for the last time. This compressor is half the weight and has half the noise. Runs my nailers and has plenty of volume to blow my work clean as i go. This dog will hunt!
I bought this for the purpose of keeping proper air pressure in tires. I was so pleased the first time I used it: I aired up 8 tires, 2 of which needed 30 + pounds each and I was able to do this quickly. I have 50 feet of hose to go with it and this is such a wonderful leap from the small portable tank compressor I replaced...... it would have taken hours to do the previous mentioned tasks. Unit is relatively light, very portable, and easy to use. I ran it for 20 minutes before using, as a break in period. I am really liking it!
Exactly as advertised, light and quiet. Not only does it run quiet, but the cutout pressure is 135psi, instead of 200. So it isn’t running steady trying to keep up.
Perfect for my odd jobs like blowing out sprinklers, air nailing and clearing filings off my workbench.
Layout and design is well thought out. Everything is easy to use and access.
This air compressor was exactly what I was looking for....

This air compressor was exactly what I was looking for. I have a yamaha ef2800i generator and was in need of a compressor that was large enough to run a 1/2 inch impact, air up tires to 85 psi,and be portable enough to stay in my pickup truck and to start and run on my generator. This is the best air compressor I have ever used. It fit my needs and still has all the advertised features of portable, light weight, and quiet. I thought the quiet part might mean it could take a long time to build pressure. ? Not true, this compressor builds up quick, and very very quiet. This compressor could be used by people in an apartment to air up bike tires....its that quiet.
