Well it would be nice to see one of these really made as a fan rated box instead of the one which straddles the joist. The one which straddles the joist is lacking room and needs to be run with only one 3 wire in the box such as 14/3 romex.
The box above is a strong box and is not hard to install, but it is not fan rated. It has the normal amount of room for running most ceiling lights or a box for smoke detectors in an insulated ceiling.
It would be nice to see this box made with a bracket to allow it to be installed in a wall in a narrow space. Also this applies to the similar type box which is a single gang switch/outlet box. There is only the one style as shown and it makes it difficult to install some lights and fixtures such as fans.
