Q:Will this wire work in a boat running an led light bar and some interior lighting?
by|Sep 25, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  So long as this method of installation is acceptable per boat/watercraft regulation(s) (which we can’t advise on), the cable itself may be applied in this manner so long as the voltage and ampacity is within the parameters of the product.

        Answer This Question

A:  No this is not tracer wire. When I ran my gas line to my firepit I used: https://www.homedepot.com/p/HOME-FLEX-250-ft-14-Gauge-Tracer-Wire-18-TW250/315382251 This was required in order to get my permit approved by the city.

A:  Thank you for contacting Cerro with your product inquiry. Yes this should work, however it does depend on the depth and tracer signal. Let us know what additional questions you may have!

Wire worked great, strippers cleaned jacket perfectly. All landscape lights in back yard and front yard as well as the lights in the pool column used this wiring.

          It works well
It is hard to evaluate a product as fundamental as low voltage landscape wire. It either works or it doesn’t. This wire works. I just added a new light and relocated 2 others. I had to make 3 short runs from the hub. The longest was only about 20 feet and the other 2 were less than 15 feet. With low voltage lighting I am always overly cautious about the gauge of the wire. I subscribe to the engineer’s rule. I try to determine what is needed and then double it. Because these were short runs I used 14. Normally, I’d use 12. The wire looked good but there are a few things I did notice about the insulation. It seemed adequate but it was heavier on one side than the other. I am not sure the whole roll was that way but some of it was. I first noticed it because the wires were a little more difficult to strip. I liked the way the individual wires were identified. it was done in a conventional way but it seemed to stand out better that some I have used. One had printing while the other was flat with an easy to see ridge. The only thing I could add is that it is competitively priced. Not a bargain but certainly not exorbitant either. The real value proposition will depend upon how well it holds up in the ground and I feel confident it will do well.

Low voltage black copper stranded direct burial landscape wire competitively priced
The 100 foot roll of 14-2 direct burial landscape wire is priced right and is more than adequate for any residential installation. This wire would be excellent with any LED low voltage light system just as long as any one run from the transformer is less than 100 feet. The wire is flexible and you can use your fingernails to separate the two strands pretty easily. If you are running halogen or incandescent bulbs in the system you may want step up to 12 gauge wire if more than six fixtures are installed. I have used many brands over the years and the reason for a four star rating instead of five star is because the outer insulation is a little thinner on one side of the wire the complete length.

I didn’t realize that the end cap had 75 foot length. I wasted wire But nothing is wrong with the wire!
