Q:As of Sept 25, there is still no answer to a fabulous inquiry from April 23... what covers are compatible for the exterior section of this unit? Trash bags are a PITA to tape on, and many of us desert folk would like a solution to this BEFORE Winter hits

Answer This Question

A:  Hello! We did not find this question posted on April 23rd, but we do apologize for the inconvenience. We do not recommend using plastic covers as it will cause the cooler to sweat and that will cause rusting. Please only use breathable covers like canvas. You can purchase a side opening cover from Home Depot, SKU #1000037374, the size is 34x34x40. If you have any other questions about our product, please email us at info@essickair.com. -Melissa, Champion Cooler

Q:I am confused about this "3300 CFM 2-Speed cooler for 900 sq ft." Did you used to sell a similar size cooler built for less sq ft, but more than 600 sqft? I think I have one of those, for a 700 sq ft unit, & want a bigger one, but unsure about 900 sqft.

    Answer This Question

A:  Hello! The 3300 cooler is the smallest ducted cooler we manufacture. We have never manufactured a smaller model than the 3300 model. The next size up is our 4001 model. If you have any other questions regarding our products, please email info@essickair.com. -Melissa, Champion Cooler

Q:I bought this model Champion RWC35 swamp cooler on July 23rd 2023. Today I turned off the swamp cooler and when I turned it back on the motor was running but the fan was not. I took off the cover and moved the fan and it started.

          Rust after 3 seasons
The entire bottom part of the cooler started to rust. Also the bottom of the panels and like others here I was told I did not maintain it properly and was out of warranty. I live in AZ and my other coolers never had that problem. Piece of junk and terrible customer service.

Do NOT buy Champion Coolers. The paint begins to bubble and peel off the metal after 6 months of use. Bad customer service!
I purchased and installed this cooler for my 81 year old mom. After one season of use the paint is bubbling and peeling off the metal in several locations leaving exposed metal. Please see my pictures. The customer service department for Champion Coolers is hard to deal with, and just wants to blame the customer for their defective product, blaming the peeling paint on limescale. As you can see in my pictures, there is no scale for one thing, and every cooler in Arizona has some sort of scale issues. Scale does not cause peeling paint! This is clearly a defective product, and not my fault. I have lived in Arizona for around 50 years, and have been using, cleaning, and servicing evap coolers my whole adult life. Also they do not respond to emails unless you call them, and say, "hey I sent you pictures of my cooler's paint peeling" two weeks ago. Then they do noting except to say, sorry its out of warranty. I'll remind you, the cooler was used for one season, about 6 or 7 months. I have used Champion Coolers in the past, and I can tell you they "dont make them like they used to". To say the least I will NOT be buying another Champion Cooler! Too much work to change out a cooler and have the paint peeling off of it after 6 or 7 months of use!

Operates smoothly & quietly. Cools well. Only issue was on low fan speed intermittently fluctuates. Hopefully doesn’t become permanent problem. Remote works well. Like features of main unit hi/low fan speed. Also like the ability to adjust direction of air flow through front adjustments. Brand new unit so will see how long it lasts

I live in Northern CA in a 2000 sq ft house and this cooler works great. I have had this one three years, and the one I sold with my last house for 5 years. I can leave it on low for 98% of the time. I may kick it to high when it's 100 plus out for a few hours during the day. The part of the house it cools is about 1200 sq ft. The rest of my house in upstairs and it does not need to cool it. I did manage to hook up a thermostat to it but I am a licensed electrician. It was not easy with keeping the remote working. I took one star off because the motor contacts the wet cooling pad causing the open motor to get wet. I have had this my other Champion cooler and had to replace the motor long before its time. I will add a sheet metal shield one of these days. Or adjust the blower to pull the motor away. If you have animals counting on this cooler understand if the power drops out for a second the cooler will not restart when the power comes back on. You would need to hit the start button because of the way their relay system latches on, it starts with a momentary button not a mechanical switch. A problem if you are at work. I set my AC on also up much higher to make sure they will not overheat if the power cycles. If you buy a cooler with manual switches and no remote it may come back on during a power cycle. If they still make them. And with that model you can get a plug and play thermostat. My August electric bill went from $200 with AC to $90 when I started using this cooler. And I keep my house cooler than when I used AC. Put it in the shade. And put it in a place that aims down a long area like a great room or hallway.
