Product Overview

The Champion Power Equipment 100380 19 in. Rear Tine Tiller is designed to be the workhorse behind your gardening passion. The 212cc engine powers a cast iron, gear-driven transmission housed in a heavy-duty cast-iron case. This machine features convenient handle controls and counter-rotation tilling. The most challenging ground is no match for the four 13.8 in. hardened steel tines and their bidirectional shredding design. The 19 in. tilling width and up to 8 in. tilling depth help you tackle large plots of ground with minimal effort, helping you move from tilling to planting in a flash. The large treads on the 13 in. self-propelled agricultural tires provide excellent traction, and since they are self-propelled, you only need to guide the tiller while it muscles through tough terrain. The easy-adjust depth gauge runs behind the tiller, allowing you work at a consistent depth and providing additional balance in different conditions. Our rear tine tiller is the perfect tool for the gardener who's serious about long-term performance and durability. Designed with a low oil shut-off sensor, this unit holds 0.8 gallons of gasoline and has a 0.5-quart oil capacity (recommended 10W-30). EPA certified and CARB compliant, buy with confidence. Champion Support and our nationwide network of service centers will back your purchase up with a 2-year limited warranty and FREE lifetime technical support.

Champion Tiller Worked Great on Hardpack, Rocky Soil
My HOA purchased and I utilized this Champion tiller on hardpack, rocky soil in support of a beautification effort around one of our community's trask shacks. It was hard work but the tiller performed just great. Perhaps a rear tine tiller would have been a better choice for this specific effort, but we were more interested in a general purpose tiller and I am very pleased with our selection.

worst ever
Worst tiller i ever had. It is throwing soil around itself. It cannot move forward because it is too light to grip with wheels and move against reverse rotating tines! You have to push it! It is easier to dig up the soil with the shovel. And even faster, i think

We are sorry to hear this. When tilling, it is best to not push down on the handlebars. Doing so can take the weight off the wheels, which makes them lose traction. Avoid trying to dig too deeply too quickly, especially when busting sod or when tilling soil that hasn’t been tilled for some time. Use
shallow depth regulator settings (only an inch or two deep) for the first passes through the soil. With each succeeding pass, dig another inch or two deeper. While tilling, relax and let the wheels pull the tiller along while the tines do the digging. Despite the fact that I'm a hardcore Troy-Bilt rototiller fan I couldn't find a new one within my area. So I held my nose and took a chance on the Champion, and now I have no regrets about it. Excellent runner, superb digger even on new tilling area as I decided to expand the garden size this year. Does require some assembly but even with my lack of skills I had it up and running within the hour. Long term can't say much as I just got it less then 2 months ago, but seems well built and strong. Over all very satisfied with the Champion.

    Not for rocky ground
Having already destroyed my small cultivator, I knew it was not going to be easy work for this tiller. it lasted about 40 feet before the tines locked up. Thought I'd jammed a rock in the tines, hit reverse, and the tines stopped turning completely. Font wheels still worked fine. Took it in my shop and investigated. Found the drive gear for tines broken in three pieces - see picture. After spending 45 minutes on hold, being assured my call was VERY important, I gave up and ordered the parts from their online parts store. At least that works pretty efficiently.

This tiller is a beast. Easy to assemble. I wish all companies packed their hardware like Champion does! Tilled my 240 sq ft garden in about a half an hour. Only issue I ran into was the belt for the reverse lever came off track after about the third use of the reverse. Easy fix, just had to take the cover off of the housing and put it back on. I would highly recommend this tiller to anyone looking to save time and have the job done right!

Easy to assemble, instructions decent with few ambiguities. I pulled the sides of box down, put wheels on, then handles and controls. The rototiller works great. Absolutely no complaints.

      big tiller. easy assembly
This is a great tiller. much better made than others in same "front tiller class". I've used friends tiller, "yard machine". this one feels much more powerful and sturdy. it arrived in about 3 days. Much quicker than the projected delivery date. There were no issues with order or delivery. Assembly was completed in less than one hour. they include a bag of tools to help with the assembly. The instructions were ok. I didn't see how to put the depth gage in place. I think adding a you tube video would help with assembly. machine was packed well and is bigger than other machines in this category. that was a nice surprise. the handles have soft grips which I believe will bemake tilling more comfortable. looking forward to using when garden dries out. the will update after using.

I wrote a review when I received my tiller earlier in June. I was very happy with the delivery, the way it was created, it's condition on arrival, assembly was fast and well described in the manual. They even give you the tools for the assembly in case you didn't have them. Not only do they give you enough oil to fill the motor, they give you a spout to fill the engine oil without spilling it. But, I had not used it. So, this review is more about my first use. I bought the tiller to put in small deer food plots. We had just cleared the land so there were stumps, roots (big and small), and rocks. The first pot I tilled was about 1/4 acre. The ground has never been turned over. I went down about 4" with the tiller. I turned the gas on and flipped the lever to choke. In two pulls the motor started. Backed off the choke and away I went. The power the tiller produced was great. I went through roots about 1" - 1.5". I had one rock about 8" get stuck in the times and the tiller started to eat it up instead of stop. The belt never came off nor did it ever slip. After completing the first time through the whole plot I decided to fill up the gas. I was surprised to see at least 1/3 of the tank still full. I was so impressed with the power of the tiller. If there is a slight negative it is the spring loading of the drive lever. But, based on the performance of the tiller I have to believe that tension is needed to keep the power engaged without belt slippage. This tiller is everything I hoped and more.
