    A:  Hi Pete, in the single action model the air is pulled into the pump as the piston is withdrawn from the cylinder, creating the compression when the the piston is pushed back into the cylinder. For the continuous action model, the air intake and compression happens in both directions as the pump piston is pushed into the cylinder as well as when it is withdrawn from the cylinder.         It leaks. It only spray tiny amounts of mist, not long ones. Trying to continuously pump led to the cap popping off to the slider. I switched to a standard trigger-action pressurized sprayer
