Couldn't get it to make foam. Thought this would be useful for garden and car cleaning jobs. I started by mixing up some neem oil in water. Pumped like crazy, shook it like crazy, and nope... nothing came out. If I shook it the whole time I was spraying, a tiny trickle of product would come out. OK, I thought, maybe it needs a cleaning product. Second, I tried some wheel cleaner. Again, put some product inside, pumped like crazy, shook like crazy, and a tiny stream came out, with much fiddling with the nozzle. Gave it one more try - got out my Chemical Guys "Snow Foam" car wash. That is a product designed to make crazy amounts of foam, I thought, this has to work. So, again, mixed up some product, didn't over fill, pumped like crazy, shook like crazy, and got a tiny bit of foam. Pumped like crazy again, another tiny bit of foam. Recognizing when I've been beat, gave up on this sprayer.

A right handy compact sprayer. I trust Chapman and have several of their larger products. This hand held does not disappoint. It is well made. (Photo 1) And very easy to fill via its wide mouth. (Photo 2) Do grasp the cap (and not the handle) to tighten the lid, as the lid gasket will seat more thoroughly and the risk of breakage is minimized. With the adjustable nozzle, one can produce near to a jet stream (Photo 3) or a wider spray pattern. (Photo 4) Pinpoint foliar applications are a breeze. (Photo 5) Note, however, the foaming ingredient - or the added foaming agent - must be of sufficient concentration to be activated at the lower "hand pump" pressure. (Recall, this is not a powered sprayer operating at higher pressure!) Thus, each pesticide and foliar fertilizer I use is requiring a bit of trial-and-error to determine the right amount of "foam" (Outlast, ProFoam, All-Weather, ...) However, the convenience of this small task sprayer provides a quick payback for that experimentation. I also have taken to using this sprayer for some household tasks where I wish to confine my application to a limited area such as window glazing (Photo 6) and some car detailing applications.

Not all things foam equally... some things foam too much. The bottle is a fairly stout size, enough for cleaning materials, not enough for weedkiller or fertilizers. It takes a couple of pumps at a time, so you will be pumping frequently but not many times to keep it pressurized. Be weary not to overfill. Be advised that it will not foam everything, what you are putting in has to have the ability to foam and do not confuse this with a pressure washer foam cannon, it is a light use foaming bottle that foams with the pressure you put into it.

Do not realize the sprayer needed to have a foaming agent added to the solution that you've filled it with. That's not the fault of the sprayer, but mine for not fully understanding or reading properly. After reading by extending the pickup line to the bottom of the bottle you can avoid having to add the foaming agent. I tried it and it does work. Looking forward using it for many application in the future.

I have been using Chapin products for many years and have always had very good performance from their products. Well, this foam sprayer is way below what I expected. First the sprayer only holds 36 oz of liquid in the tank (see Photos) not 48 oz, any more will result in just a wet spray and not a clinging foam. Then there is a pump issue. To pressurize the tank and get foam, it clearly states on the tank that it needs between 40 and 50 pumps (see Photos) to work correctly. It does spray foam but for only a few seconds maybe 5 or 10, it then requires many, MANY more pumps to make the sprayer work again then only for a few more seconds of foam spray. This is more than disappointing and frustrating from a company that produces some of the best yard and farm equipment. Unfortunately this sprayer is more than a letdown. I was really excited to be able to review this item. I could have gotten a bad foam sprayer but it looks like it should work well. I think the problem may be that this sprayer uses lots of compressed air out of the top of the tank. Since air is compressible and water is not, this sprayer goes thru the air very quickly and then quits making foam or for that matter spray. I did try many different solutions and ratios to see if I could get better results. The sprayer is built well, it feels good in the hand and it looks good as well. But it won't make much foam. Overall, I would not recommend this sprayer and pass on it. It just does not have the capacity to make foam and store the air it needs for more than a few seconds.

The chapman handy foam sprayer is a very handy spray bottle to have at your disposal to use. The sprayer is easy to pump up and get the pressure you need to spray out what every liquid you desire. The nozzle at the end is adjustable to different sprays patterns. It does very wide come spray all the way down to just a jet stream coming out. The cap comes apart very easy to clean and also has a little strainer init so the tip wont clog up

This product is not what I thought I was getting. I guess I didn't pay attention to the name. It does what it says it will do, which is spray foaming product. You fill the tank less than half full with something that needs to be foaming to apply. Pump up the tank (50+ pumps, the reason for only 4 starts) and then shake it to create foam in the tank. The pick up tube is above the liquid line and sprays the foam. Need more foam? Shake i more. What I wanted/needed was a small pressure sprayer when I didn't need to drag out a 1 or 2 gallon sprayer. I extended the pickup tube to the bottom of the reservoir (see photos) and it works great. I can use the short pick up tube if I need foam. The nozzle is adjustable for stream or spray so I'm a happy camper, other than the 50 pumps.

This foam sprayer requires a foaming agent. You can purchase a foaming agent separately to add to whatever liquid you are using in this sprayer if it doesn’t already have one. If you want to use this to spray weed killer, cleaners, insecticides, etc., then check the label of your liquid(s) to see if they will foam or not as not every liquid will foam. Once you put the desired amount of liquid in it, pressurize it by pumping it 40-50 times according to the directions. I didn’t keep count; I just pumped until I could feel resistance – it doesn’t have to be a lot of resistance. Then shake the whole unit a few times (you don’t have to get wild about it). The spray comes out easily with just the lightest touch on the tab at the top of the handle. The nozzle adjusts from a wide spray to a precision stream. The handle is easy to hold onto and the pump on the top is circular and easy to grab and pump. This sprayer is sturdy and well made. Why use a foaming sprayer? Using a foaming sprayer allows you to use less of your product and also makes it VERY easy to see exactly where you’ve sprayed which comes in handy especially if you’re using insecticides/pesticides or strong cleaning agents.

This wasn't what I expected. I found I can only use this thing while pointing it downwards. So it's not like a spray bottle with a wand like I thought it would be.It doesn't spray as far as I would have liked. I got this for small jobs so i didn't have to lug out my 5 gallon sprayer but it just doesn't do what I wanted it to do. So I think I will use this outdoors on some hard to clean areas where I can just use bleach and let it sit. Once you pump it up the little force you get may help to clean some plastic things I have in my yard, and I will use it on an upstairs deck to clean some vinyl siding up there.

I own a "foamer" attachment for my power washer, and I suppose I was expecting this to work in a similar fashion - but it does not. This hand sprayer is designed specifically to be used with the addition of a foaming agent in the cleaning solution - the foaming agent creates the foam, the sprayer sprays the foam. The pickup tube extends less than half way down in the bottle - so it is sucking up foam, not liquid. If you don't understand this and just pour a few ounces of liquid in the bottom, it's just going to spray nothing but air. If you want to spray liquids, get a liquid sprayer (some very good ones from the same brand are available), or extend the pickup tube to the bottom of the bottle. From testing it out and examining the build of the sprayer, it's clearly well-made. The viton seals will handle many, many chemical concoctions, and the pump shaft is heftier than I expected in a product at this price point. The tank seemed to hold pressure well, too.
