Awesome Grill! You will need to set up (2-3hrs) if u didn’t but one already setup. I see few negative reviews but in my opinion, prerequisites were not done that why you might have these issues. The grill needs to be “seasoned” properly/regularly before using it. When this is done, it lasts longer. Love the convenience of the burner, gas, wood/charcoal and smoker all in one. 100% recommend!

It became very rusted after a few months.
Not built to last. Cheap metal quality. It is all rusted inside and the rust from the legs have left stains on the floor. We have had ours for 3 years and it will likely not last much longer.

            Installation was not that bad
I bought this grill recently and it was fairly easy to set it up with proper tools and a helper using the instruction manual. The grill itself is pretty beefy and some of the pieces are pretty heavy which is good. One thing that I was upset about was the Texas Trio logo on the front... mine came upside down. Its riveted on the charcoal side grill fascia (front plate) and therefore I can't change it or fix it. I either have to put some stickers or something on top of it or live with it.

              Nice grill
Grill does take 4 hours and 2 people to put together. Looks great once it is together. Very hard to keep temperature on smoker side, first use it peeled and started rusting immediately. Sad you pay almost $600 for this product and it peels on your time using it??? Even worse is what you have to go through to get it fixed.

                Nine month performance report
I bought a Chargriller Texas Trio about nine months ago in Lacy WA, and I am very pleased with its performance. The offset smoker takes a little practice, but works like a charm once you have it figured out. When the coals are hot the grill emits very little smoke. It will hold at 250f, which is perfect for slow bbq. Tips- Rub the grill down on the outside and inside with cooking oil. This helps to dissuade rust. Use a tooth brush to get into the crevasses. Keep it clean.

                  Seasoned and Smokin'
Putting it together: 2 ppl, 4 hours, with breaks :). Studied instructions, some illustrations hard to read (it took the most time interpreting), but it all fit together okay. As instructions say, do not hard-tighten screws until pieces are soft-fitted.Seasoned the entire unit: vegetable oil with paint brush, every single joint, grate, chimney, interior panels, and exterior surface to sort of waterproof things, including legs, wheels, etc. Set small fires to charcoal in smoker and charcoal cooker and lit propane cooker. Cooked the unit for about 2 hours. Ran too hot and had to open cookers to cool, but it seems to have worked.First smoke: Beef back ribs. Burned charcoal to gray in smoker, air intake wheel and chimney wide open. Added mesquite wood chunks and let catch good fire. Closed air intake wheel to 1/3 open, top chimney kept wide open until white smoke gone. Added rubbed ribs. Closed air intake wheel to 1/4 open, chimney to 1/5 open, smoked 4 hours, goal was 250 degrees. A little challenging to use temp gauge - it reads hotter at top of cooker. Added more charcoal and wood 1/2 way through. Removed ribs, sprayed very lightly with a beer/vinegar/soy sauce concoction, then buttered ribs. Wrapped in foil and baked another 1 hr. Could have smoked a little longer, but otherwise, our first smoke was perfectly delicious. Will get a charcoal chimney next to preheat coals.

DO NOT BUY & DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM CHARGRILLER: HORRIFIC
ANYONE TRYING TO BUY A GRILL OR OTHER ITEM FROM CHARGRILLER - BEWARE! My initial email regarding an issue after using the smoker portion ONE TIME (SEE BELOW FOR THEIR RESPONSE) MY INITIAL EMAIL: I purchased the Chargriller TRIO less than a few weeks ago. I assembled the unit and one week ago, I did my first smoke. When I smoked, you will see that the paint on the smoker part peeled off and now looks like it is also showing rust. The affected are the side close to the grill portion and the back.I do not understand how this happens, especially after one 1 try from the smoker. When I read reviews, there were a couple of people saying that this happens but most of the reviews did not mention this. I am VERY disappointed with this and not sure what you will do to correct this issue. Like I said, the entire unit is only a few weeks old. It took me hours to put together and now this. Please contact me as soon as possible as to your solution. If this is a common issue, I would not want to have this problem persist. CHARGRILLER "CUSTOMER SERVICE" RESPONSE (shortened) APPALLING! Thank you for reaching out to us. It is amazing to see how many customers are opting to add the flavor of smoking to their Barbeque prowess! Whether it's used as a portable grill or side firebox, the grill is a relatively small, confined area... Most recipes call for 180 - 220 degrees. It's easy to reach and maintain those temperatures in the main grill body,..outlined in the Owner's Manual for this grill. Typically, when we see this kind of damage, it's due to how much fuel and what kind of fuel is used. We in customer service know folks love the flavor of woods when they're smoking..The most important steps to take now are to prevent the grill from rusting. You'll want to remove any loose paint, sand down the affected area, and use a good high heat paint, such as Rustoleum for touch-ups. This is something that will be done from time to time depending on how often the grill is used and seasoned...

This is a great grill! It is a MONSTER! The gas side is awesome for daily cooking and for heating and keeping foods warm. The charcoal side is great for your normal charcoal cooking and the smoker gives you a great indirect cooking option. I cant forget about the side burner which actually makes this a Texas 4 Play rather than a Texas Trio. Don't get it mistaken though. There's plenty of grilling space for a ton of food. You can have 3 people cooking on this grill at the same time! Like I said earlier... This grill is a BEAST! (or did I say MONSTER?)
