No cracks or sags in ceiling since installed 23 years ago....
Installed this channel on a ceiling in 1997. We installed 1/2" drywall incorrectly (amateur hour) on the channels.... Ran drywall parallel with channels and only used a channel on each edge (shared with adjacent panels) and one in the center! 23 years later and no sagging or crack.

    Good for sound isolation
Not easy to find installation instructions, especially at the HomeDepot site. Use this link: https://www.clarkdietrich.com/sites/default/files/imce/pdf/20_Products/21_IntFraming/RC-Channel/CD_RC-InstallationGuidelines_v03_2019-11-18.pdf The product is rated to hold up to 2 layers of 5/8" drywall. The most important issue is to make sure that the drywall screws you are using to fasten the drywall to the channel are not long enough to extend through the channel and into the floor joists that the channel is hanging from. If your joists are 24" on center, you must use the channel on 16" centers. If your joist are 16" on center, you can use the channels on 24" centers. Better sound isolation is obtained by using 24" on center channel installation because there is less material transmitting sound from the floor joints into the drywall. Be sure to use rockwool insulation between the joists to adsorb sound; the resilient channels and rockwool work together to reduce sound transmission. Roxul used to be carried by Home Depot. Now they carry Owens-Corning products. Frankly I can't tell which is best for sound attenuation. The original resilient channel had long holes in the webbing. This product has much smaller holes which probably cause a decrease in acoustic performance. Here's a report on channels from different manufacturers. http://www.veneklasenresearchfoundation.org/images/9_1_6%20LoVerde_J_Dong_W.pdf

Very easy to install and cut. Seems very flimsy at first but I installed 2 layers of 5/8" drywall and it's holding up. I also used some rockwool to dampen the sound in the ceiling joists in my studio. Haven't gotten to test it out with my drums yet, hopefully I will soon.
