    Q:Is the glass see trough?
    by|Dec 9, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  This glass block window is made using diamond pattern glass blocks. These diamond pattern glass blocks are made with see-through, clear glass but provide moderate privacy due to the diffusion and diffraction of light created by the pattern.

Windows are terrific. They were supposed to take 2 weeks to come in but I had them in 4 days. This was the first time I tried this and they were very easy to install, I read the instructions and had all 4 replaced in 1 day. The amount of light they let in and the privacy they provide is outstanding. I would definitely recommend these windows to anyone.

        Great Prduct Used in Kitchen
The true size of these windows are 31 x 13.5 x 3.1/8 not 32 x 14 x 3. Block depth not an issue but the rest is a problem. The video makes it look so easy, not so. But I am not installing them conventionally I have set them up on end so they are 13.5 x 31 x 3 1/8. (it's my kitchen window where the framing was not done by a pro and it is a picture window with 2 small side windows. The side windows are on hinges and work like shutters, they swing out. So instead of taking out a second mortgage to do the windows I decided that the glass block is nicer than what I got estimates for. And it is. When you lay the initial mortar on the bottom you need to let that set up a bit because when you place the window in it all oozes out. You need to have your shims in place prior to placing the window in, check for level and adjust your shims. You need shims all the way around when doing it the way I am: bottom, sides and top. I really wish I could have dry fitted before the helpers showed up but they are about 35 lbs, too much for me to lift. You need two people to do this, one inside and one outside. Probably a third to mix more mortar and hand over tools as needed. We spent too much time on the first window to be able to get the second one in. Hurricane is coming quickly. So next weekend we will be back at it. I am also doing the same in the living room, again same window framer. They will be bigger windows, I will call the company directly for exact measurements before I order. The picture is rough, but they will look great once the shims are out and the window frame is finished and painted. I originally did this for the wrong window, the one without the vent. Does not change the installation issues. Second window went in so much easier. We used boards to act as temporary "window stops" on the outside, this helped hold the window in place while we shimmed and affixed with the mortar. We did also use 3/4" thick x 2 1/4" wide board cut to fit in the window opening to tighten the space for the window. It looks exactly like the other window but went in so much faster and easier. We used much less mortar on the second window. These really look great, the pictures don't do justice. The original window was single pane and would fog up all day due to condensation, now no condensation. What a great idea I came up with. We need to place moldings around the outside and paint both inside and outside. Some molding on the inside to cover the mortar might be necessary if I decide I don't like the mortar. I am so happy with these windows. I can't wait to do the living room next!
