What was once a job exclusively for trained garage door professionals, Clopay's EZ-SET Torsion Spring System makes torsion spring installation faster and easier for the do-it-yourselfer. This OEM spring replacement system eliminates the difficult and dangerous manual winding process. There is no need to locate and prepare the center mounting pad with this system.
- Kit for door size: 9 ft. x 7 ft.
- Kit includes: EZ-set torsion spring, torsion tube and coupler, drums, cable assembly, EZ-set winding unit, EZ-set end bearing, mounting brackets, fasteners and instructions
- Works on 7 ft. H door with standard lift 2 in. track and 12 in. radius horizontal track, do not use on doors with LHR track or doors using the double track LHR conversion kit
- Headroom required for this kit is 12 in.

AnswerBob, this kit is not designed for a Wall Mount Jackshaft Opener as you need an extended length Torsion Tube. This kit has a Torsion Tube cut to fit the specifications for a 9' door. You can visit your local Home Depot and work with a Millwork Associate to place a Special Order for a replacement spring system that has the correct length Torsion Tube for a Wall Mount opener. After spending money to make modifications, I was able to make it work fine. The two piece torque shaft is a poor design, The screws that connect halves of torsion bars to connector piece sheared off so I had to drill holes and use thru bolts to join halves. The bar still sagged. So I purchased a one piece torsion shaft from an overhead door. . After installing, it works beautifully and squeaks are gone. If you buy this product plan on purchasing a one piece torsion shaft and discard the two piece shaft you purchased in the kit.
The only great part of the kit is the spring torqueing unit.
For my other door I bought a conversion kit that required the spring to be torqued with bars, and bought the one piece torsion bar..

The garage door spring kit was easy enough to install, however the cable drums kept slipping and allowing the cable to "jump" off the spool which could have caused damage to my door and opener if I wasn't standing right there when it happened. The professional that I called to see what I had done wrong said he has seen this alot with this product as well as a low duty life on the springs. He sold me the Liftmaster version for the same price as this because he refused to leave this installed. I'll be returning it for a refund I hope.

Easy to install and works great for both doors. The winding unit definitely makes installation and adjustment much easier than a conventional unit. My only complaint is that the torsion bar itself does not seem to be very robust and the hardware to connect the bars stripped the threads. I drilled and installed a through-bolt.
