is this the complete rails for both sides top, and bottom? i'm building a garage door from scratch and i'm needing both the side and top rails.
Asked by: Ryan
Ryan - This is an ADD ON KIT for an existing garage door install where you already have the main rails for the door. These added rails make the top section of the door go down at a greater angle in order to avoid hitting floor joist above that are too close to the door. You must have the tracks for your door already installed and you ADD these to that installation.

I have 1" ceiling clearance, need a garage door opener. Please help

Asked by: Yukon
Yukon. I am not a garage door expert, and I don't know your specific situation, but one thing I saw my father do in a tight space situation was to mount the garage door opener basically up in the cavity that was created by two floor joist from the bedroom above. He mounted it slightly off the center of the door but it allowed up to put the door opener motor and thus the track up in the floor joist cavity. That may not work for you but that was something he did and it worked out for him. NOTE: If you are able to put an opener in your application make sure that you look at the track from the motor to the door and make sure that runs straight. I recently installed an opener and I had to move the motor over after the install because the track was running at an angle and I felt that if I left if that way it would put too much pressure on the wooden door I was working with. Stay safe and BEST of luck!!!

I have a 7 ft door and I am trying to install it in a garage with rafters. The absolute maximum height that the top of the door can raise without hitting the rafters is approximately 7 ft, 7 in. . . . Does this give enough clearance to use the Conversion kit? The vertical height of the door's original track kit extends nearly 7 ft. 6" at the top of the upper track causing the door to hit the rafters when lifted, so I am assuming I would have to cut off several inches of the original vertical track to make room for the upper conversion track to sit on top of it. Can I use the Conversion Kit in this way if I cut what I need off of the original door kit at the bottom?

we have an older home (45 years Plus) and we replaced the one piece garage door with a garage door that breaks down in to 4 sections we used this with our low ceiling due to not have enough clearance. Worked great. It allows the doors to run on a high and a lower track at the same time taking care of the low clearance problem

I have a 7’ x 12’ wide. 8’ ceiling.Trying to install door opener . Not enough room for track. Will this kit work ?

Asked by: Selby
This is what these kits were designed for. It drops down the turning radius allowing the door to stay below the ceiling. In my opinion, the door will not open quite as smoothly with this kit, but is the best solution.
