can you add on to a standard to make it longer?

Technically no, you wouldn't get the strength of hanging from the horizontal rail at the top. That being said I have installed several of these shelves without using that horizontal bar. I just fastened them to the wall with high strength anchors and haven't had any fall off.

What diameter size screw does this standard take?

I think I used #14 screws into plastic anchors for my shelves.

Load weight?

Hello, The weight capacity for the Wire Shelving Units varies depending on the DEPTHS of the Wire Shelving, and the TYPE OF INSTALLATION. I made a table below for your reference. Fixed Mount (Wall Mounted) WIRE SHELVING DEPTHS: WEIGHT CAPACITY: 12 inches 15 lbs./Linear Foot 16 inches 15 lbs./Linear Foot 20 inches 15 lbs./Linear Foot Adjustable Mount (ShelfTrack System) WEIGHT CAPACITY: Mounted to Studs: 44 lbs./Linear Foot Not Mounted to Studs: 25 lbs./Linear Foot *If you noticed on the Adjustable Mount, the depth of the wire shelving is no longer considered as long as it is attached to the Standards/Wall brackets **Also, please bear in mind that THE WEIGHT SHOULD BE DISTRIBUTED EVENLY IN THE WIRE SHELVING. Thank you for your inquiry.

Can I somehow attach one of these 30 in track to another to obtain a 60 in long one?

Not unless you're (very) skilled & equipped. (you'd have to weld or create a proper, custom bracket & then drill holes to attach (i.e. join) the 2 tracks.) The quality of your "attachment joint" could compromise that added track's "staying power." In addition - it would be far safer to "screw the added track directly into the wall-stud - avoiding any joining - for secure holding power." (assumes that the "top-track" was located in-line w/a wall stud.) Note that this "addition of smaller tracks to yield a longer one" proves (not) cost effective! You'd save (nicely) by purchasing the longest length track (84" from memory) & then cutting this to your desired length(s). (you may have to add a hole or two to secure the newly cut tracks - yet you now end up w/2 (even 3) tracks - again "trading some simple labor for cost saving AND the ability to create "custom length tracks.")

I am going to screw to the stud part of the wall. What size screw do you recommend? Is 1-1/2 in i...

This much depends upon the width of the shelf, number of brackets & the weight you seek to support. A 2½" drywall-type screw would prove superior.

I just measured the track, it protrudes .75 inches from the wall. I have 12 inch wired shelves. With the track and the bracket it, the shelf protrudes 13 inches from the wall. Hope that answers your question.

What is the weight limit?

If you put the load directly over the shelf support, you can get 40 or 59 pounds. In between the supports you are limited to ten or fifteen pounds.

Can these be mounted directly to the wall studs without the shelf track?

The answer is Yes, but you get even more versatility with the main horizontal bracket, plus if you do it correctly, it is much easier and quicker to mount.

Do I need to use a hang track or can they be used with out one?

Hello. The Hang track needs to be used. When the system is not installed in accordance with the instruction sheet as provided, it could compromise the stability of the system, and will also void any warranty. Thank you for your inquiry.

Love these. They made my job so easy with predrilled holes and many places to adjust the brackets. They are very strong come in different lengths depending on need. Turning them with the backside out made it easy to set level on before drilling holes in walls. Everything came out perfect

Really easy to install. I like the fact that this track is movable -- it fit onto a horizontal track and can be slid into whatever position you want. I needed to install some sort of bin on an inside patio wall below my mailbox slot to catch the mail. I settled on closet organizers (see photo). This system allowed me to not only catch my incoming mail, but also use additional baskets for other things.
