The noise level to my liking was on the louder side of things. If you have it running thru out the daytime with other distractions taking your focus off of this unit, OK. At nighttime in a small bedroom, trying to sleep it is not whisper quiet. More like downright annoying. I returned it.
Not sure. I use mine for small bedroom and at hotels when the heat is not warm enough.
Yes, you can select 750W or 1500W operation with the switch.
If you only want to have the heater turn on just above freezing, one workaround is to buy a 120 VAC/15A Thermo Cube Thermostatically Controlled Double Outlet (at Home Depot for about $10) that turns on the outlet at 35F and off at 45F and plug the heater into that. ... so you can keep things from freezing (like well houses, greenhouses, basements, etc) without spending a lot of money to keep an area warmer than you need. Hope that helps! Link: https://www.homedepot.com/p/120-VAC-15A-Thermo-Cube-Thermostatically-Controlled-Double-Outlet-TC3/100210525
