About This Product

Designed for customers who enjoy the look of a traditional log-burning stove, the ComfortBilt HP61 is one of the most powerful and cleanest burning pellet stoves sold in North America today. Its high CFM convection blower and 80.1% EPA Certified efficiency insure that you'll get the maximum amount of heat from each pound of pellet fuel you use. Engineered and constructed to the highest standards, the HP61 has 5 heat levels that can be changed manually, set to a constant temperature, or programmed for five time blocks per day over a seven day period. EPA testing certified that this stove produces only 1.15 g of particle emissions per hour, so you can feel good about your contribution to clean air in your community. The HP61s powerful exhaust fan pulls air through the burn chamber so efficiently that pellets burn completely and drop very little ash into the removable ash pan. The powerful, ultra-quiet convection blower transfers the maximum amount of heat from the heat exchange tubes to your living space. The HP61 is a pellet stove that you will feel proud to own year after year.

Q:Does this stove need a fresh air intake?
    by|Jan 29, 2024
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  The unit will work fine without a fresh air kit by simply pulling in air from the space. You do find more efficiency by installing a fresh air kit however. They are required for Mobile Homes and RV's for a basement although not required work best.

Excellent source of heat in cold climates
The Comfortbilt HP61 provides ample heat in our large historic (not well insulated) Vermont home. Our boiler went down this past weekend, and we were able to heat the entire home with it. Unfortunately, we did have a small issue when it was shipped - a dent in the top panel. I requested a new top panel from Comfortbilt, and it shipped promptly. Customer service is outstanding. We've had it for a year, so I just ordered the spare parts kit - $500 for $1000 in parts. Buy it!

            So far, so good
It’s important to note that the heating season here in New Hampshire has just begun, and we’re no where near the bitter cold temperatures that will come in the next couple of months. That being said, so far the stove is providing a much more even and comfortable heat than my old oil furnace was. We live in a 1000 square foot ranch with a full basement. The stove is in the basement and we removed all the ductwork from the old oil forced hot air furnace; this leaves all the open vents upstairs which allows the heat to rise from the basement. At first upstairs was overheating a bit as the stove cycled based on the temperature of the basement, then I learned you can order a wire from Comfortbilt that will allow you to hook up a thermostat to the stove. As the thermostat and wires were still in place from the furnace, I now have the stove cycling based on the temperature upstairs (very efficiently). Important to note it will not work with a thermostat that requires a c wire for power, but I’ve ordered a programmable thermostat that comes with a power adapter. Like I said, it’s early in the season, but i have no reason to believe this stove won’t heat my house just fine.

              No regrets
It does more than I expected heats my 2500 sq ft two story home no problem. In the pacific northwest with single digit outside temps I only have to put it on level 2. I use an average of one 40lb bag per day.

Great stove and very efficient. It provides more heat than I require in a two story 2800 sq ft home. My only complaint is the size of the hopper which holds 50 lbs of pellets. 60-80 lbs would be ideal. Easy to install! Much better than running my heat pump all winter which significantly increases my power bill. One ton (pallet) of pellets lasts about two months while running the internal thermostat at 70*-72*. Low maintenance, I empty the ash pan and vacuum the stove once week and have yet to clean the glass due to the air wash system. I recommend this product as an excellent heat source for winter use to significantly reduce cost when compared to a heat pump. VA state user.

              Very happy
Purchased late January 2022 and so far it's been great. The heat that it pumps out is heating my 2500sq home easily. If I have one complaint I wish I can figure out how to turn down the feeding of pellets because it burns a 40lb bag of pellets in 12 hours on the lowest setting. Other than that it's highly recommended.

Great heat, weird design doesn't hold enough pellets
In setting up the old stove to this one wasnt bad. I just had to raise this stove about 2" though. I had to adjust the feed rate of pellets on level 1 and 2. It was going through 1 bag every 12 hours. Once adjusted( which did take a few tries) one bag gets me about 18 hours on level one. It certainly puts out the heat that was promised. As far a cleaning, it needs cleaning once a week which is much better then the prior stove I had but not the promised every two weeks. The weird design is that to open the doors to clean the unit, the top piece lifts up so that the door has room to open. Lastly is the same thing others speak of, it leaves a good 10 to 15 lbs of pellets at the bottom of the hopper and goes out. I will empty the hopper.

The only reason this got a "good" rating instead of an excellent one is due to the size of the hopper. We have only had this stove for about a month or so and so far, it works better than expected. It was easy to set up and on low (61) keeps our house between 70-75 depending on the weather and wind outside. Today, it is on 62 and keeping the first floor of our house at 70/71 degrees, the second story at about 68 degrees....it's somewhat windy here in Michigan today! We have a 2700 sf, two story home. Four rooms plus bathroom on first floor and four bedrooms plus laundry room and bathroom on second floor.I hope this lets me update at the end of winter!
