Answer This Question

A:  The stranded type of cable can be handled easier than solid. AWG 22 and 24 are very close, so, you can use it.

A:  Maybe. Wire is stranded to make it more flexible. Flexibility is important in applications such as extension cords where the wire is subject to bending from time to time. House wiring is solid, because the wire never moves and is not subject to vibration or bending. Copper wire can suffer fatigue failure if bent to excess, so if in your application, the wire is going to be stapled so it never moves, then solid is an acceptable choice. If the wire is subject to movement, including vibration, then you need to choose stranded wire.

Q:what's the difference between the gauges?

    Answer This Question

A:  It refers to the diameter of the wire. Basically, the higher the number the thinner the wire is.

A:  I assume you are referring to wire gauges; specifically, the commonly used AMERICAN WIRE GAUGE (AWG), which specifies, if indirectly, the diameter of electrically conductive wire. For a very good explanation, see the wikipedia article at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_wire_gauge or just google "wire gauges". As described there, the gauge number originally referred to the number of times the wire had to be drawn through a die to reach a particular diameter.

      Answer This Question

A:  It depends of the load. This wire is good to feed milliamperes of current coming from a 9V battery or source.

      by|Feb 28, 2019

A:  For speakers or low voltage inside, yes.
