Just right!
I was concerned that this brace would not work in the peak of a sloped ceiling because all of the videos I viewed showed only flat or sloped applications. After locating the joists, I made a hole in the crook of the peak, maneuvered the brace/bar into the hole and straddled it between them, tightened it and hung the box for a secure fit. Excellent!

Easy Installation and Sturdy
I bought this product at the Woodbury store on July 2nd. The brace is well designed and very sturdy. Installation was easy. Make sure both ends of the brace are sitting upright on the two feet (see picture) and it will be level and the proper depth for the box. The bracket fits fairly snug on the bar and the use of nuts makes it easy to attach the box to the bracket (much easier than trying to start screws into a bracket). Don't forget to install the additional two screws upward into the bracket. After installing the brace, neither the brace or box would move. After installing the fan and light there was zero wobble, even with the fan on the highest setting. I am very happy with this product and believe it is an excellent value.

    Great ceiling brace!
Bought this over the other brands because I had great success on CE products. The brace is very strong once is installed properly.

I replaced four recessed can fittings in a cathedral-type ceiling with these fan braces. As the can wiring had been butchered in a previous modification to hang pendant lights, a regular can to pendant conversion kit was not an option. Going this route allowed me to do a clean job of the wiring and restore the ground connections. Removing the airtight cans was a major hassle, as they were solidly-made USA-manufactured, rather than a modern imported type. I also found very poor insulation around the cans and usually nothing between the can and the roof sheathing, leading to the cans becoming too hot to touch when the afternoon sun reached the roof. One of the installations required the use of the version of this brace with a slightly larger box because of the number of cables it had to handle. Installation through the old larger can hole was very easy. A paper template helped to create a drywall patch to adapt the can hole to this box's 4" diameter. Overall, actual installation of this box was a breeze.

        Perfect
I read the reviews before buying and I was not convinced that it would be an easy install. I think a bit of common sense goes a long way! I originally cut a 4" hole in the ceiling for a small light fixture. I added an old work ceiling box and called it a day. This is until my mother brought home a 30 lb fan instead of a small light fixture. I knew the box couldn't hold a ceiling fan so I had to figure out another solution without tearing the ceiling up. I was able to use this device without making my 4" hole any larger.. It was perfect. There are two nuts inside that holds a bracket in place that connects the bar to the electrical housing. REMOVE these in order to detach the bar. Once the bar is detached you can install it first. Make sure the bar is level when tightening. Once the bar is tight, you can then clamp the bracket back around the bar and attach the electrical housing. It fit perfectly in the same hole as the other plastic ceiling box that I originally bought. Good stuff

This was exactly what I needed when fitting a new fan in my porch. Heavy duty construction and very easy to fit into the roof space between the joists once I cut out the hole in the ceiling. The fan is up and running and still hanging in place!
