21.5 cu. in. Remodel Construction Brace with 2-1/8 in. Box is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 129.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from product is a knockoff of other similar designs but with shortcuts/cut corners in quality / design... product is a knockoff of other similar designs but with shortcuts/cut corners in quality / design: 1. the square turning bar means that you have to get it to the precise quarter turn so that the box's bracket will mount. this is not that big of a deal except that the thing seemed to want to unscrew when under pressure!? 2. the welded mounting screws are problematic (they are welded to the mounting bracket and cannot be replaced by the user in the case of failure .. and there are only 2 screws. Other designs have 4 screws holding down the box to the bar. highly susceptible to stripping as mentioned. 3. even after mounting and firming up, the box allows a fan to swivel back and forth because there is no way to *LOCK* the bar in a certain position once you get it where you want it... it can move a 1/8 to 1/4" on it's rotation axis even when tightly mounted between rafters. It needs some sort of lock screw mechanism. like others, i ended up having to crawl into the attic and scab to the rafters because my mount location exceeded the length this unit (I had 2 of them) and HD had nothing else.

I needed to hang a ceiling fan where a light fixture was but the box was supported only by a lightweight spreader bar. I was able to remove the bar by sawing and yanking and then inserted the remodel construction brace. What a difference! It is rock solid and rated strong enough to support a ceiling fan up to 70 pounds, which is more than twice the weight of my new fan. I looked at remodel ceiling braces from other stores but chose this one because of its square bar which gives a better grip to turn it easily. I am 100% pleased with it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Go back to the westinghouse fan support you sold. These... Go back to the westinghouse fan support you sold. These commercial electric fan supports are lousy. I have been an electrician for over 30 years, and the Westinghouse fan supports worked very well. When I saw the commercial electric brand, I couldn’t believe it. Why change if the other one is better

Only negative, which happens a lot at HD, one of the two I bought had been opened and the strain relief and grounding screw were not in the box. HD should look at getting their items taped so that you can check the contents.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This box is a great solution to retrofitting a ceiling... This box is a great solution to retrofitting a ceiling fan in place of a light. As long as you can get a 4 inch hole in your ceiling this brace allows you to easily maneuver the bar into place and secure in place between standard joists without any patching to securely hold a fan.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not secure. The two screws that come down from... Not secure. The two screws that come down from the top of the metal bracing do not completely fasten the box such that it is actually touching the bracing. This is because the metal strap that encases the brace is a little bit ( 1 mm) too long.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I like the new design, everything about it is great.... I like the new design, everything about it is great. My only dislike is the plastic romex connector. I can never get them to work and I always end up throwing them out and use a regular screw down romex connector.
