AnswersEither way. I have switchable outlets in my ceiling. Plug light into outlet. Flip the switch, if they don’t come on, pull the chain. If you don’t want to use the chain, pull the chain apart and leave the little chain piece dangle. You won’t need to use it to turn the lights on/off at this point.

2 out of 3 went bad in less than a year
2 out of 3 I purchased are bad in less than a year, the store will not honor warranty, they want you to contact the company, but it appears to be a Home Depot brand that refers you to the store. First one wont turn on, second one has part of it blacked out now before I could resolve the first.

Very easy to install. Very bright and the on/off pull feels like it is well made. (No need to yank the cord!) I am going to buy more units to replace single bulb fixtures in my unfinished basement.
There is no bulb to replace so when it goes out, you will need a new unit.
According to The Home Depot website, This unit should last for 50,000 hours of continuous use and comes with 5 year warranty.
Use this unit to replace outdated (2) 32-Watt fluorescent tube fixtures.
You can link up to 9 units together. Comes with a 5 ft. plug-in power cord.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE LIGHTS (OR ANY LED LIGHTS), ONE OF THESE 4FT LIGHTS, PUTS OUT AS MUCH AS MY 8FT FLORESCENT LIGHTS WITHOUT THE HEAT GENERATED BY THE BALLASTS AND LIGHTS(120 DEGREES VERSUS 90 IN THE MIDDLE OF AUG IN TEXAS) AND YOU CAN LINK UP TO 9 OF THEM TOGETHER FROM ONE DUPLEX, THOSE LIGHTS HAVE BEEN UP FOR 3 OR 4 YEARS AND OTHER THAN THE CHAIN GETTING BROKEN OFF AND HAD TO OPEN IT UP TO TURN ON AGAIN NO PROBLEMS. These lights replaced two T12 fixtures on my wife's plant shelves. They have decent reflectors to direct the light, the best I found. Daisy chaining fixtures together made installation a breeze. Reasonable cost, only slightly higher than T8 fixtures plus bulbs. Highly recommended .
